Not yet but I wish it would hurry up. I am right there with you on the Highway thing but I have no choice thats the only way I can get to and from work. I don't think I have taken the Liberty over 45 mph since I read the faulty steering news article.

I am really nervous specially with a 9 month old and my wife in the JEEP.

If you have immediate safety concerns, or your tires are cupping on the edges check your ball joints. There is a post on this forum on how to check them.

We won't be hearing anytime soon...with the holiday weekend it's gonna take longer. Then you have to figure the dealerships are gonna get backed up...I am figuring late oct to mid nov before my KJ is fixed.

All you need to do is check them. They are either bad, or good. There is no use in not using the jeep.

I hope this thing starts to move, because my ball joint sure is moving!!!!!

I am glad that I have a work truck that I drive most of the time rite now, so the jeep is not in that much danger of hurting her self. ( oh yea others too)
I have 2 KJ's that are affected. 03 and an 04

Take it in NOW then. They will do the work. When the new LBJs come out they will have to do it again, but at least you'll be safe and it will be free.

If your experiencing ball joint failure (or loosness) take it in and get it fixed. Why would you put yourself into a position of failure, knowing that the ball joint is failing?!

You can have the dealership do it, and then do it again with the upcoming recall. IMHO its crazy to "wait" just for the recall when you know there are problems right now.

Should I wait to put on my lift until after they do the recall? I don't want them to think the lift caused the BallJoint problems.

It doesn't matter what caused the problems, they still have to replace it. If it was a warranty issue, they get to argue about causality. With a recall, they've already admitted that the part itself is to blame. So even if you use your liberty in a demo derby, they still have to replace that balljoint. :-)

I would wait just to have a proper alignment done after your lift AND after the dealership is done messing with it.

I noticed you did the 2.0 lift. I have the full kit with the upper strut plates as recommended by ALL-J to relieve some of the pressure on the struts but thought about just installing the spacer because yours sits so nice and level, what is your take on it? I should probably use all the parts I have........ :?:

I know they're free, but why even bother with the replacement part? Is there a rumor that they might be better than the turds that are installed now? I love my Moogs and the fact that I do not have to worry about them.

Everyone should get the MOOGs. Stock design is just crap, and are they even putting in anything different? Knowing D/C...they'll put in the same ball joint (but this one isn't a defect  )...maybe they'll put in a larger "heat shield" to prevent this, since that was the problem in the first place  .They could do justice if they put in the larger greasable MOOGs but doing that on the 800,000 defective KJs they've sold would cost a pretty penny I'm sure they aren't willing to do without. I had an upper ball joint failure at low speeds on dirt, and nothing seems to have been damaged except the ball joint itself, which seems like a miracle. I DON'T TRUST D/C, so I'm getting MOOGS all around from Al, which will hopefully prevent me having to deal with them at all in the future.
