I just checked my vin at jeep.com and it listed the lower ball joint recall. The date issued is today Sept 6, 2006. http://www.jeep.com/owners/index.html |

Those poor Daimler-Chrylser mechanics are going to be swamped. When I had the dealership help install my front tow hooks, I asked the tech about the LBJ recall, and he just sighed |

I just checked the recall notice with my vehicle serial #, and the recall showed up for the lower ball joints. I booked my KJ in for the service for September 19th. |

This is the document it is trying to link to, but it's not there: http://www.jeep.com/universal/webselfservice/pdf/F23.pdf LOL I like what it says at the top of the page when you click on that link - "Well...one of us is lost". Ain't we all LOST? I put in my VIN# and got the LBJ notice. |

I just had a look and mine is there to! DC must be kicking them selfs. Last week the dealer i went to had a look on there "system" and told me that i was not on the DC list and if i want it done i would have to pay R4800 about $685! SO guess who ill be calling on tomorrow! Iv got about 4mm play on them already! But i got to say they have been GREAT with the TC and transmission problem! They have replaced them both with new units, apparently with new updated CRD ones? They have all so extended the warranty by a year with unlimited mileage so we will see how that goes? |

got one too. Sad since mine is an 06 with 4000 miles, I don't have any play in the joints but I am going to get the recal done. I will wait until after the crowd dies down. |

can't tell if you were serious, but here's the answer anyway It just means that the recall hasn't been performed on your vehicle, yet. The fact that it's in the list means that it should be performed. I assume that they just prematurely started putting the recalls out online before having the PDF available (and before mailing out the cards) |

Same here looks like JEEP is having a problem with the page. Hopefully it will come up soon. I did the check like Clint said to and everything seems to be fine right now and I have over 35000 miles. I am going to be getting my rear axle seals replaced sometime in the next week or so, I will have him check my ball joints again just so I know that I am safe until the recall gets to me. |

'Bout dern time! Now I just need to schedule an appointment and get it done. Anyone know a good dealership in the Phoenix area to take it to? I've heard some negative stuff about a couple (won't mention any names). Once I get this done I can finally get my lift on |

I actually called a few weeks a go to the 1-800 # for DC and had them check my vin#.She said i was all up to date it looked like and if anything changed they would mail out a recall letter. I then went to the site maybe a week ago and checked w/ the recall page and it said i was all up to date. Anyhow,I went to the jeep site today and plugged in my vin and it came up with LBJ incomplete. I called South Shore Jeep and made an appt for this Friday. They said they only had 4 LBJ in stock right now so it was good i called when I did. She only asked me what year jeep i had, No vin # or anything. I'm wondering when and if they will check it? I just hope they use the correct newer LBJ and not older ones they had sitting around. That would be unlawful for them to do that right? Do you think it would be to much to ask them what the part numbers were that they were using to replace my existing with?and does anyone know what the new part number is to cross reference it with.. |

website is showing that mine need to be replaced. I called the dealer and they said wait at least a week to schedule because they don't even have the ball joints yet. |

Hi MattyMac1 I had a look at the new ones last week when i was told i had to pay to have then installed and the tech showed me the difference between them and you'll see straight away because the new ones have a heat shield to protect them from the heat coming off the disk brake thats making the rubber seal brittle the main corse of failure. He told me they had to return the old stock and then where sent new stock as not to get confused between the two? My CRD is in getting a new TC and Transmission, i spoke to the service manager 5min ago and was told they will be doing it today or tomorrow if it showed up on the recall, so when i get it back ill post a picture of them. The thing is i only get the jeep back next week after your replacement. But if i was you id have the change it anyways, then you know you and the family are safe for now and if they are the old ones just have them changed in 6 months after the rush is over and then you'll know they the rite ones! Good luck! |
