OK - so this is probably a silly question - but it drives me crazy not to know what this is...the other day I was sitting on my steps enjoying the nice weather and I heard this groaning sound come from my parked, shut off, Libby. I've had her for over a year - never heard it before - but I'm sure it's probably been doing it all along (I've now heard it several more times cuz I'm listening for it). Anyway - I can't really describe it any better than that - hubby says it sounds like the fuel pump trying to pump. Is this a normal Libby burp? Or something I should have looked at?
Thanks!

could be the vacuum for the air compressor...do you guys usually leave the air on when you shut the Jeep off??? I heard mine moan opnce when it was off, but that was because after I shut it off I then turned the air off...I was told it was the vacuum system that the liberty uses for its air compressor, or something like that...anyone else???

it's probably the vacuum system for the A/C, either that or maybe the fuel pump...how long did it happen after the jeep was last shut off?

I have an 06 Renegade and noticed what I describe as a mini-fog horn sound. I discovered if I remove the gas cap it doesn't happen. If I simply open then shut the gas cap it takes longer for the sound to reoccur.

I've even had it make the noise more then 12 hours after being turned off and parked in the garage. That time it did it as I closed the rear door.

Dealer says don't worry about it, it's normal. And they said it wouldn't happen when it got cooler. Well it still does.

I hear that sound in my garage for not less than 30 min. after parking my '02 Jeep Cherokee 2.5 CRD (in Europe (Spain) it is not Liberty) since the first day. The dealer told not to worry about, it is the fuel pump.
