I cranked the ol' KJ up to a stated 110 tonight, if the speedo is accurate at that speed. I think it MIGHT have pulled a touch more if I had used 5th gear instead of 6th.

Anyone know if these things have a limiter on them? Or is the top speed drag-limited? Anyone seen the actual top speed published anywhere?

Just curious.

I dunno but I have hit 104 with 5% bigger tires than stock and it felt like there was a bit left (although I may have been going down hill, I don't remember). So I wouldn't be surprised if there was a limiter.

It definatly didn't feel like my old landcruiser did when approaching 80 (top speed in that was 84)

We offten run at a seed of 100mph (160kmh) The fastest you'll get out of the CRD is about 120mph (192kmh) thats what my GPS was showing and thats the point when the limiter comes in. Our V8 HO Grand gets us up to about 135mph (216kmh) and the limiter will come in.

Just one VERY important point here that you got to remember is that the KJ is limited to the maximum rated speed of the tire it come out with so if you change them to say a A/T tire it could be less and a mud a lot less. You can and will have a blow out at continues high speeds. My BFs A/T get really hot if i run at 100mph for more that an hour or so! and they are only rated at 100mph. They do run a little cooler with nitrogen in them. Im not sure on the V6 KJ but would think its also limited to the tire.

So enjoy the speed but just be careful.

I've hit 110 but it' never actually shut off. Or are we talking about the MPH won't go any higher?

mine just stopped going up and started going down even tho i had my foot still floored, it goes down about 5 mph then it lets u accelerate again, until you hit the limitter and it repeats

That sux. I hate it when people put this kind of stuff on products to save me from myself. We're going to have a lot fewer Darwin Award winners because of this kind of mentality :(

I wonder if it can be reprogrammed....

I've hit 112 on the way home from school one day....would NOT recommend doing it for an extended period of time. It was scary as heck, especially when going down the highway, trying to judge whether the car like 200yds in front of you is gonna move cuz he's going 65 and youre going 112.

It feels like a life time! From 110/ 115 the brakes feel good they dont feel as if they fade off as they do in our Grand had to replace the rotors and disc's at 14000 miles.

That's dumb. I think its also placed on vehicles to save others from stupid drivers. IMHO why the heck is anyone going this fast when speed limits don't even reach past 80MPH in a majority of areas here in the states. I just hope these instances were a one time deal to test the vehicle.

Shrug, oh well. It's not like I havn't sped before, but nothing as fast as all of you folks. Gulp...too scary to think about in the Lib!

i know my last car (jetta GLI), had a one on it at 140mph. but after i chipped it, the limits were as fast as the car could go (185ish), but i don't know if they make a chip for the libbi.

Talk to KYLiberty. He has had his tuned and reprogrammed and I think he said the top speed was 114 and over 120 after he had it reprogrammed.

I view it as similar to a SFA or 7" lifts... most people will never need it (and if you do, you bought the wrong vehicle; you want serious speed, get a sports car; you want serious rocks, get a wrangler), but it's nice to know you've got it when you need it. I've had the libby for almost 5 months, and I don't think she's even seen 90 yet, but it's good to know what she can do - if need be. As for my attitude on this stuff being dumb, well, I guess I just believe that people should have all the personal liberties they want, until it hurts someone else - then you loose those liberties, or win a Darwin Award. (no pun intended on those liberties, and yes, I do feel we need more chlorine for the gene pool) Just a difference of philosophies, that's all; it's cool.

OK I guess you rite! As they say speed kills. but its really hard to stay below 140/ 150kmh in the fast line! thats just the speed that line travels at.

Just think if we hit a small car at a 110mph with all the armer we have on they dont stand a chance!!!
