Hi all, Well yesterday I traded iin my Liberty for a Toyota 4 Runner. To be honest I have not been happy with the Liberty, first because it was just too small. Second, the problem when I had to pay for my rear end to be rebuilt even though I was under original warranty. It has been fun convesring with you all and happy trails. Kevin |

I know my user manual in the CRD states mandatory rear end and front end lube changes every 12,500 miles. I guarantee they will deny warranty coverage if I don't do it that frequently.... |

Because the dealer said I got water in the rear end and that is my fault. Now, remember this is a vehicle they advertise as being "Trail rated", they show it going through rivers, etc and the dealer would not cover it under the original warranty or the extended warranty I purchased. So, I wrote a letter to the President of Chrysler and they finally refunded the money I paid to have it repaired. Kevin |

its not making alot of sense!!! Since when could stearlerships assume that they know how we break our stuff, there shouldn't be any questions they should just fix it.........What part of Drivetrain are they missing in drivetrain warranty??? If it makes the wheels turn its part of the drivetrain!!! |

Those of you that change your diffs/trans/engine oil, how do you document it for warranty sake? I keep the receipt and write the date and mileage I did the change. I have never had to (and hope I never do) present this to a dealer for a warranty repair. Do you think they will accept it? |

Actually, I believe you are not required to show anything unless they say the failure was do improper service or oil break down. However, it is probably a good idea to keep the receipts, because we all know how much the dealer likes to find a loop-hole and get out of warranty work. |

Them dealers can be pretty slippery. Like anything tho..if you stand your ground and come across as informed you can do anything. |

Combat Vet, You are going by the dealer being a total ripoff artist. Don't blame the KJ for dealership ineptitide. They just don't understand. You have to fight those battles or find another dealer to work with. You should take your letter and infor Daimler sent to you and show the dealership. Just shove it in their face if they still denounce KJ's and water. |

combat vet, what got rebuilt? I had a inner pinion bearing going out on my rear end, dealer denied my warrenty claim due to lift, claim 'modification to suspension causing change in rear driveshaft pinion agle, caused increase wear on pinion bearings' rrriiight. actually what happen is i took my powertrax out and 1 little spring went bye-bye missing, i thought it fell on the floor somewhere, but instead, the bearings ate it up bearing kit was $100, with a few bloddy knuckles and the special tool (which you can rent from jeep dealer) to set the backlash, i was all good to go. |
