Well, another reason I love my Jeep. I was sitting at my desk around 8:30 when a friend of mine called me up and asked what I was doing. Ended up that they had gone out to the desert with a Suburban and gottten it stuck in what is possibly the only mud hole in southern Arizona. So, after taking it out and trying to navigate at night with stock lights, I get out there and the vehicle is buried up to the license plate. So, I didnt even try to pull it out becuase of the weight difference and lack of reliable anchor on my Jeep at this point for actually pulling another vehicle (I knew I shoulda bought that trailer hitch tow hook). However, I got them out, gave them all a ride home, and made $20 in the process. The reason I got called to go get them: Everyone with a truck had just gotten them washed and didnt want to get them dirty. So they have to wait for someone to get off work with a big truck in order to get it out. But it turned out to be an interesting saturday night. |

Trailer hitch tow hook = $30 at 4-wheeler supply. I just picked one up for our Walnut Canyon run. So you're already 2/3 of the way to the price of one Oh, and props for being the one to go get them. I'm sure they'll remember that for a while... |

By the way, I'm amazed at how brave coyotes are. While I was parked out there I had one run by and rub against the brush guard while my fogs and headlights were on. They said that four of them had been runnning around them out there. |

Wow, are those things very aggressive? Thats alittle scary to be stuck out there with all of those things running around. If you had the right recovery gear, you could of pulled it out to problem. You would of needed a couple pullys, ALOT of syn rope, and a tree. |

We have coyotes on the base here in the Denver metro and they will walk next to your building door. They will not come up to a human. They run away.....unless completely starved or rabid. |

Yeah. They usually dont mess with people. They've attacked my neighbor's dogs a few times while they were right there, but usually they would rather run away. It was just weird cuz those four were just hanging around seeing what we were doing. I saw a few kangaroo rats and that out there too. Cool night for desert wildlife, unfortuntately didnt have the camera though. |

Say I needed to strap out a Yukon or something that was pretty stuck but still recoverable. Please explain the above process. Hopefully I don't have to push any of the vehicles by hand |

Just use 2 pullys. One on a tree, and one on the rig thats stuck. I saw this on Dirty jobs. They had a hummer stuck in 2 ft of sand and pulled it out by hand! It was really cool. Anyway, mount the rope to the tree, run it through the pully on the rig stuck, then back through another pully on the tree, then to your libby. |

Are there any "offroad" type of pulleys out there? Something that won't turn into a hundred pieces of shrapnel when it grendes? |
