Well I broke down this morning and had a flowmaser 40 series installed on the KJ. Man it sounds good right about 2k rpm to 3500 rpm. After that it tends to get a little raspy but it did that with the stocker on there. I'll try and get a video or a sound byte with it on there. Parakeet |

I can't wait to hear it as I've been pondering getting one. What did it cost? |

I was just watching Trucks and Xtreme4x4 and both of them were talking about a new Flowmaster that is made from diamond plate they say is something like 52% stronger than OE. So you could use it as a skid or slider. Anybody have one yet? They said it cost around $80 plus installation. |

Mine is a Flowmaster 50 SUV part number 52557. The important thing to get is 2.5 inch in - center and 2.5 inch out - offset. Preety easy to shop for em when you have that detail. |

Muffler showed up from Summit Racing over the weekend - $99.90 shipped. Stopped by a local muffler shop after work and they installed it for me for $40. I had them install it to the rear, right where the tailpipe begins its curve upwards. Seems like the further back, the less it will get slammed offroad. The sound is much deeper than the stock muffler, especially during acelleration. It sounds preety good, but definitely will take a little getting used to. If you are a fan of real quiet exhausts, this isn't for you. If you like a little growl (not too much, but definitely noticable), then you will love it. |

the "SUV" has a thicker shell so it keeps it quieter in the cabin...also stronger offroad. |

I really like this exhaust, he says that it is Flowmaster Original 40 I just dont see it on the website. If i were to order a exhaust what all size would I need. I like the mopar/borla dual exhaust just a little pricey for me. Not unless some one has one that would sell to me...? Would I need one or two if these for dual exhaust..... |

That might be a 1-in-2-out muffler design which has tips placed directly on the outlets of the muffler and bypasses the upcurving stock exhaust piping. Might be a bit tricky to support the weight if thats the case. |

Since you had the muffler welded in, you should go back and see if the shop will remove that restrictive flange where you had piping going to the inlet of the muffler welded in. I believe the outer diameter of the normally 2.5in exhaust piping narrows to 2.25in at that flange. Maybe not a big deal since you had it done, but at least if others are thinking of this idea, I've put my .2 in. Here's my Borla XS welded in for $145 at my local shop.
