Ok...my HU is ready for it. The fact that I live in an area where I only get to see the Vikings, Bears, Packers and Chiefs on TV, andI have to follow my Cowboys on Gametrax on the internet (which kinda blows). I'd love to be in the garage woodworking while listening to them play!! What are advantages to having satelite radio? I wanna get a new toy, can't you tell?

Not to mention just NFL but will also have tons of College Games and tehn NASCAR next year. You also get Premeirship Soccer (if you like that) as well as NHL and NBA games. There is also Howard Stern (on 2 channels), The Rolling Stones channel, The Boss Channel...not to mention if you are traveling into certain cities you can get weather and rtraffic reports on them too while using Sirius. Let me know if you need any othyer convincing....I need to get it again. It was in my old KJ but that one got destroyed.

I have XM in my jeep and really dont like it at all. I didnt listen to much of anything but music and they really didnt have anything I liked. If I like football and all that crap it would be worth it. I drive my jeep twice a week and its not worth $13 a month or whatever it is.

I have been thinking of it too but I want a unit that I can move around and the choices on Sirus seem to be currently more limited than XM. XM's programming and service don't seem to be as good though.

I wish that I was that lucky. I get to see my Vikes play twice a year.

Sirius IS worth the money if you live in an area where the regular radio stations are few. I got it while I was in Vermont (nothing but country) and was pretty satisfied with it. Now that I'm back in Michigan I've doubled the ammount of Rock stations that I listen to. Don't like a certain band? Heard that one song about a million times? Want to know what the weather will be like for the week? Just change the station!

However just because your new head unit is ready doesn't actually mean its ready. You will need to buy a tuner box + an antenna - figure about 75 to 80 bucks. Then there is the monthly fee of $12.95. It gets expensive.

I'm glad that I got Sirius but if there was one thing that I could change then it would be to get the lifetime subscription. It was $500 at the time (not sure what it is now) and I didn't have the cash but it would be nice not to have another bill ever again.

I love my sirius. I think xm's comedy channels are better, but either one is waaay better than local radio. Our one rock channel is now half rap. In the last couple years I've done a couple road trips from central California to Moab, Boise and the San Juan Islands and Oregon. Between Sirius and my Ipod...I'm a happy camper.

Oh and I've had mine since February of 04 and have only gotten one bill. I won't say anything if they won't. :D

I love my Sirius. The only issue I have with my Sportster is the volume compared to regular audio and slightly subpar audio since it isnt hardwired. The music is awesome though. Mine is also programmed to automatically switch when the PHX Coyotes are playing. I personallly am a bigger fan of rock so it works for me. However, my mother prefers country and Sirius is lacking in that. However, if you look, Sirius is beginning to get much more major deals (like NASCAR in 07). My only advice is avoid XM like the plague.

I think sirius programing is better in terms of consistency. xm seems to be more for an older client base, sirus being the underdog seems to have that little something that xm lacks

Sirius in our 05 does not work consistantly in the garage. It's factory with the factory antenna. So if you want it for your garage, you are probably better getting a portable unit and a home antenna.

Other then that, my wife loves it.

I have XM, I love opie and anthony!

but I am the kind of guy who ony likes say 1 or 2 songs off a CD, and sirius and xm channels play any somg of of any cd, not just the "HITS". so you hear tons of songs you dont even know/kinda suck.

I got my Sirius about a year ago and have not listened to FM radio since. You just can't beat commercial free music.

Sirius is also coming out with a portable unit that will allow you to hit a button when your favorite song is playing, and it will store the song as an .mp3 file. (up to 100 hours worth). It will also be capable of streaming music off the net via a wireless connection. This will be my next toy.

Guys guys,

If you want to watch your team (NFL) then Sunday Ticket from DirectTV is the ONLY way to go. I am a Lions fan in KY. I have seen every game for the last 2 years. I also have Sirius and love it. I recently moved to Louisville and don't even know if FM stations exist in Louisville.

I have an Alpine HU and Sirius tuner box, so the sound quality is near CD, volume is better than CD actually now too.

I bought my Renny used about 5 months ago and the Sirius worked with the factory head unit and I dont know how long its going to work but if it ever stops I WILL pay for the service. Before I had the Jeep I had XM and I like them both. Either is WAY better than FM and well worth the price I think.

A friend just borrowed my Jeep for a few days while his car was in the shop. He asked me why I didn't have any fm channels preset. I started laughing and told him...well, they were channels when I programmed them in 03. The stations went away and I don't listen to regular radio long enough to bother.

All I can say is Sirius is the heat! Ihave had it for about two years now and like many others have not listened to regular fm since. When i bought it it was about 70 bucks for the car kit and anmother 30 for the home kit. You just take the reciever out of the cradle in the car and pulg it in to the stereo in the house or teh garage in my case adn you are good to go. If you have it jsut in you vehicle it more than likely will not work while you are in the garage. The antenna mounted on the toip of your ride only works when it has a direct line of sight with the satelites overhead. So in other words too if you have a roof rack adn stuff up top you wan to place the antenna in an open spot with no obstructions above it.

So I have to have another antenna? My HU is ready...meaning I can buy the adapter to plug in the back. I am thinking of going portable instead because I would listen more in my garage/home more than the Jeep. How do you connect a portable to the HU though? does this use the old cd changer fm modulator principle?

You do need another antenna .. however, when I had sirius in my explorer, the antenna is a tiny little flat box that mounts on the roof, you dont even see it.

(I would like to say sorry to english teachers everywhere for this post  )
