An elderly Galeton driver apparently was unhurt when his 2005 Jeep Liberty overturned Wednesday afternoon on Route 44 in Hebron Township. State police said 82 year old Henry Stann was headed south when the SUV traveled off the road sideways and rolled onto its roof. He was taken to Charles Cole Hospital by Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance for evaluation.

I bet it had more to do with the fact that he was 82 and shouldnt have had his drivers license.

My grandpa was safer on the road at 82 that I was at 18...

Maybe, but the vast majority of elderly drivers on the road are oblivious and dangerous. I think that after a certain age (say 70), you should be required to retake your in-car test every 2 years. It's scary watching grandmas drive 10 mph under the speed limit, scared out of their minds, with no clue as to what is going on around them. Elderly drivers are just like young drivers, only they lose driving skill as time goes on where young drivers improve (or should).

Not making fun of them or anything, its is true though. I kinda feel sorry for them and usually wave them on and smile(although they cannot see me with the tint) trying to help them out alittle. Hopefully Ill be old someday(if I dont die) and I dont want some teen yelling and cursing at me! :)

I agree that people shouldn't be disrespectful to them, but I don't think that they ought to be on the road. I'm with you though, no point in ruining their day, because your action through the window really won't change their driving at all.

My grampa lost his license, but he was not able to drive safely. I know other elderly people that drive very goot. It depends on each person.

Tell ya what, they have the lowest insurance rates and the biggest cars, so the majority of yall's claims (crying) are unfounded. I have yet to see an old fart with a cell phone in his ear and the front end of the vehicle buried under a dump truck either. Rock-on...Cry babies

There comes a time to hang up the keys for sure, I have seen several incidents where an older driver got t-boned because they pulled out in front of people, it probably isnt any more prevalent for older folks to have an incident than anyone else though. Still yet there are just some people that should not be behind the wheel at all, no matter what the reason, be it old age, or just a lousy driver, it is not worth it to risk their lives and the lives of others. Hopefully when/if it comes time for me to hang up the keys I will be wise enough to do so.

My Grandmother gave up here keys at 86 because of other people and the way they drove, they scared her she said. I have seen her on the road and she was more careful than 75% of the drivers. She also did not drive 10 MPH under the speed limit, she always pushed it as far as she could. Also have a neighbor down home in Southeastern Ohio that just turned 100 and he still drives. Of course no big cities with idiots running around down there but all the same. I do agree that there should be some kind of test though!

I hope I get there. I'm not saying that being old is a bad thing (though I'm sure most 80 year olds would rather be young again), I'm just saying that he probably shouldnt have been driving.

As for insurance rates, I'm sure the average insurance cost for an elderly person is much much lower than that of a young person simply because they don't drive as often.

Oh and you have not seen an elderly person on a cell phone in their car because for the most part they don't have cell phones or use them sparingly. I'm sure you have seen an elderly driver who smashed into something because they weren't paying attention or were clueless, however.

Well I beleive every state should do physical & mental tests on people every two years to determine their ability to drive safely. All drivers, not just elderly. How's the driver's license laws in your state. I heard Arizona lets you keep the same one for eternity.

Good way to generate state dollars also.
