i just finished wiring up my new kc's but i think they are not getting enough power because when i turn on all 6 lights my idle drops, each light is 150 watts, and i dont even want to turn on the stereo because i have it hooked up to a 900 watt amp and i think the jeep would die. So the question is what kind of alternator does the 03 kj sport have? what kind if amps does it put out? and what would be ideal alternator?

Not sure what the stock one puts out, i think 135A, but the off-road or towing package gives you a 160A one. Mean Green has heavy duty ones. I don't think it's listed on the website, but i believe they have one, and they are 200A. www.mean-green.com

Thats alot of power dude. The lights alone are pulling 66amps, which I believe it to much by them self. The amp can pull as many as 66amps with peak hits. I would not recommend turning the sub on with the lights at one time.

The 160amp alternator only came with the rennys, the towing pack didnt get that.

Stock alternator puts out 135amp like Guyute1210 says. If you turn the headlights on, turn all 6 lights on, use a power seat and roll a window down, the jeep could blow up. JK.

You could get a capasitor for the amp and that'll help draw less, i think

A cap only helps for short spikes, like a bass hit. If you listen to bass heavy music, or if your charging system is already under powered it won't help at all.

It wont take the draw down, just make it smoother like you said. I think its stupid not to have one with all the electronics in the jeep. Many people swear they do not work, I think they are stupid. To each his own, or to each his own knowledge I should say..

Mean Green alternators are great but very expensive. They cost around $350+ new. I would upgrade your battery first (Optima!) and then go for an alternator.
