Hey folks, purchased my '02 libby for 13,000 with 63k on it. maybe a little high but I like it. Diffently something I want to put some work into. But first I have a few questions... I have an over heating issue. but it was because of low coolant both times. No leak and none in the oil so I am lost there. Today I am going to maybe tighten some hoses and clamps and see what happens. Any idea's/tips/suggestions let me no! I also want to look at my LBJ's and see if they have been replaced, any certain something I should be looking for? I know with the higher milage, i need to start thinking about the rear diff fluids/grease and maybe even trans. How hard is this for a beginner car person with common sense and time to learn? Anyone with GREAT walk thrus and/or pics I wanna no, along with anything you guys think I should check. Otherwise I am in love with my libby, anyone have any tips and/or manuals they can part with let me no! Thanks |

I like my Jeep KJ I would never call it Kujo. If you look at the lower ball joint they should be brand new, they are on recall right now. Don't forget to look at the heater system also while looking for that leak. Once a week, at least, you should be checking all this stuff. If you have something you do on one of your days off, this would be the perfect time to incorporate your checks. Walk around the rig looking for a low tire, dirty or damaged lights, loose weather stripping, a new dent, etc.Open the hood and check all the fluids except the auto tranny if that is what you have, check for signs of leaks of any kind when you light 'er off and check again. Check your lights. Drop the hood and go do that errand or whatever and when you get back, check the auto tranny level with a warm, running rig. Check the cooling system one more time for leaks as the thermostat is now open and the engine is warm and your done. Once every 2 weeks to a month, check the tire pressures cold. Have the tire rotated every other oil change. Letting your tires go will cost you mpg at the pump, and wear the tires out quickly. GO WHEELIN', no KJ is happy without a little of Mother Nature's best about it. |

Welcome!! FWIW, KuJo is my wifes KJ that was named during the build up for the CA4WDC raffle. We bought it off the winner a few months ago. You can barely see it here, but just under the 4x4 is the KuJo sticker we had made for it. She likes it.
And heres a pic of KuJo in Moab.
Anyhow, the diffs are easy to do and there are a few posts about them on the forum. You can also find posts on doing the trans and transfer case too. Good luck and enjoy your KJ! |

For someone w/ so much time and so many posts on this forum you sure don't pay attention do you? That pic was in the thread about custom plates and the Moab pics are in the Moab section. I even posted pics on other forums too. Sheesh! When JJ speaks, People ignore...... |
