How does a throttle body spacer help the performance of the 3.7L engine, or is it snake oil? Anyone out there have first hand experience with one installed in their Liberty?

You don't want a throttle body spacer. Get a throttle body from Fastman. They really work. Better throttle response and an increase in power.

The tb spacer worked well on the jeep inline 4 and 6 engines, more so with a bigger throttle body as well. I called AEM to see if thier intake included a tb spacer on the 3.7 kit, they said no, there was no benifit of a spacer on the 3.7. The 2.5 and 4.0 intake kits do come with the spacer. Bottom line, is that AEM does the work for you, if thier intake kit has a spacer, there was some benifit found, if there's no spacer, no benift.

Post subject:  TBS

I've had one installed for about 7500 miles now, and really haven't noticed any difference in MPG, however when in the midrange of any gear (I have a 5-Speed), it feels like a real kick in the pants when you need to pass someone, or just want to be pushed back in your seat a little. I only paid $19 for mine on ebay, brand new, otherwise I wouldn't have bought one. The only reason I considered it was during the gas price hike. The "whoosh" sound when it's new is kinda neat as well, haha. I had to clean out the throttle body just recently due to a REALLY annoying squeak at about 1/3 pedal. I never experienced this prior to installing the TBS, and I have almost 60,000 on my Renny. Overall, I wouldn't pay the money for it. I'm actually considering removing it. Go with a Fastman throttle body instead.

Since its a fuel injected engine a spacer won't help. You'll get help from increased volume of air, not a longer intake.
