Well guys and gals,

I just got back from the the dealership my Renegade came from.

I have ordered a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon!! Kinda excited about it.....I don't need to tell you all about what it is has....I got it in Jeep Green Metallic, I love that new Jeep color!!

It'll be in here 2-6 weeks, factory ordered.

My Renegade will have a trail buddy, and now my neighbour will doubly happy to have two filthy muddy Jeeps in the driveway instead of one!!

Pictures to come when it gets here!! ;)

That thing looks awesome, but I just cannot see it being good on rocks. I know some people from Lost took them offroad and Im sure they did good, but I know they bottomed out some. Those things usually have good skids though.. 8)

the skids are not that good we found they get hung up and the break over is worse than a stock KJ
I will remain a TJ man when it comes to wranglers

Yes as a matter of fact that is EXACTLY how it will look.

In what ways?

The sway bar disco is the only thing I really like for offroading. They look good though.. :) I like the rubi 2 door version alot. Not so much with the 4door though.. I like the 2006 wranglers too.. I really wanted one before I got my libby. I looked at a red one the day I got mine. I just wanted more space inside.. :?

Edit: Ohh, I guess remembered.. I was at a local dealership the other day giving one a quick look over before a salsman caught on.. I bent down and pecked on the main skid(the one that covers the tranny and all) and it sounded like plastic? Does anyone know what its made of? Its not steel for sure..

In what way and on what planet is the 4 door wrangler "superior" than a TJ? The 2 door is fine
as I stated befor the breakover will kill you unless you get tires over 40" and to run tires that big you will need to do a rear swap from the 44 to a 60 and the front would be questionable then I am still on the edge with the true CV drive shafts the one I looked at had huge DS with these little tiny CV's on the end

That is just a small list of what I can rember as far as what I dont like
so for now I have my TJ the wife has her KJ and in a year she will be getting a comander to tow my TJ and I will DD the KJ

Well guys, lets remember, for those of that DON'T know me and what I do for the second and third parts of my life.....my original and first part of my life I work in Law Enforcement, the second and third parts, I own a Travel Photography business, and an Expedition Group.

So we gotta remember why I chose the 4 door, and why its a superior choice for me. Its not going to be a hard offroader to me, more of a vehicle dependant expedtion vehicle. Distance driving in remote areas and harsh climates, not a rock crawler.

So with that, a two door Wrangler is totally %100 useless for me, not enough room to carry gear and the small space inside will feel cramped after 8 days of 12 hours of driving each day.....the KJ has an issue with heavy loads in its rear and the roof, not bad issue, just an issue I have discovered with loads over 200 pounds, the rear suspension compresses way to much and its bumpstop hell on the trails, its almost perfect and I still love my Renny to pieces, but its not quite right for my expeditioning purposes.

After checking out the Rubi 4 door, I determined from my 7 years of Expeditioning that it was perfect for my requirements.....so to me hahahaha its way superior! ;)

The skid plates are in fact steel and they are 2.5mm worth of it to....not great, but who cares, its factory issue, and like the KJs it will get switched out for after market. For my purposes to I more than likely wont need to lift it....if I do, I wouldnt go past 2.5".....no sense for an Expedition Vehicle, plus it has to represent my Travel Photography business.....kinda like National Geographic.....hahaha (I wish)!! ;)

Anyway really excited to be getting this and thanks again guys for the congrats in here! I know it'll be accepted into the KJ community as my Rennys Trail Buddy ;)

In that case "for your needs" it is better out side that the TJ rules all :D JK wit ya

:D hahaha RULER OF ALL!! haha...I know you're JK, hey even so bro, you have all the rights to you're own opinion....no worries, I wasn't taking it to heart anyway

I hate to say it but for expedition purposes, I can honestly say the the JK will be far superior than the KJ. No comparison!

I noticed you said the kj doesnt handle weight good, Im alittle confused as to why you says that, but we wont go there.

Just wanted to point out that the kj's payload is over 100lbs more than the jk's..

It does have more cargo room though! 8)

You mean 200 lbs on the roof? I have had over 800 lbs of junk going to the dump without any problems. We can discuss this later :)

Wouldn't you be getting some sort of roof damage w/ that weight? A concaved roof perhaps? What kind of set-up do you have on the roof of your KJ if I could ask? I'm still shocked by that weight.
I had friends w/ an Explorer that put a hide-a-bed on the roof to transport it, not sure on the weight but it was heavy. I remember them having this huge dent on the roof after they heaved the couch up onto the roof. That image always goes through my mind when I put anything on the roof.

A friend of mine on my site said it perfectly.....just because you can go down the road or have the KJ parked in the driveway with a ton of weight on the roof and in the back....doesn't mean it will handle the weight well on the trail or in harsh climates.....being a good possibilty of roll over, or roof rack breakage of any kind, or major suspension decompression while on rougher ground resulting in all kinds of other problems....not good or safe.

The new Wrangler unlimited is wider....and with heavier loads on trails and in harsh climates it will less possible to roll over or have breakage of parts due to extreme cold mixed with over burden weight, ( less breakage due to items being able to be spread out further and more calibrated to wieght class instead of available space)

Again...these things are important to me as I run an Expedition Group that will be visiting the Columbia Ice Fields, and the North West Territories and Nunavut in 2008.

So....rolling over, losing gear, and breakage are NOT GOOD when help is thousands of miles away. ;)
