"Well my second as the rear seat squeaking was first. I drive my CRD in full time 4 wheel drive about 80% of the time. I am very rarely on paved roads and then not for more than a few miles. I have always had a vibration in full time that goes away when shifted to two wheel drive. Last night, when shifting to two wheel drive the vibration continued. After about a mile there was a big thunk and the vibration stopped. Question: Is the vibration normal in full time? I have about 7000 miles and nearest dealer is about 300 miles |

A slight roar or vibration is normal. You heard the "bang" b/c it hadnt come out of 4wheel drive yet. Sometimes going from full-time to 2wd it will get stuck in part-time. There have been a couple threads about this. Its best to put the jeep in N while going under 45mph and then shift it to full-time or to 2wd(which you going to).. Then put it back into D and it should shift alot better. Why do you keep it in full-time so much? |

Thanks for the tip. I have a home in Central BC. The pavement ends about 15 miles away and the only time it is in 2x4 is when I go to the local village for fuel or coffee. Everything outside the village is dirt. The roads are washboard, rutted, mud, snow etc. The full time is wonderful for holding a line around corners, holding the track on cattle guards etc. When I go to 'town' 65 miles, we take the pickup as we usually have a lot to haul back. |

When you get to the Cariboo you're welcome. I know a few 'scenic' tracks if you want to get off the bitumin. Bring a fly rod and a rifle. |

I have the same problem with the rear seat squeaking. It is on the passenger side latch. My XJ did the same thing. Anyone been able to fix this? (sorry to hijack if this thread goes that way) |

The dealer told me to put lithium grease on the catch. It stopped it for about a month so I just keep putting it on and it squeaks no more. |
