I did and I used a 10,000 pound one, which is around 6 inches high and about 10 inches wide, bolted right behind the grill. The trannies have a lot of line priessure, so use the hydraulic hose and good clamps. I still have a vey small leak in mine at the rubber hose and steel radiator line. Unless the radiator tank is shot, I wouild recommend still allowing the fluid to run thru the radiator.

The only radiators that had the cooler in the rad were libbys with the 45rfe tranny. The libby with the 42rle only have the AUX cooler. I would like to upgrade mine someday. So many things I want and NO money..

Its almost Christmas AL.. What are your fellow lost members getting? Some upper A-arm's maybe?

I have one, can't remember the brand but found it at Advance Auto for $30 and is rated for a 26,000lbs gross vehicle weight(I know a bit of a overkill).Ran it inline with the factory cooler in the radiator so the trans fluid warms up in the winter, have had it on since I bought my KJ with no leaks or tranny overheating issues and gives a real handy place to tie into for a tranny flush also.

Resurrected this topic from a few days ago, because I am interested in this also for an '02.

Those that have done this, did you cut into the rubber hoses that go in and out of the radiator cooler ? To me that looked like the best way to go, with some insert fittings that the hoses then attach back to .

Al -- this sounds like you cut into a metal line.

Anyone taken a picture of their mounting behind the grille ?

I was looking to day and I am confused I have 3 coolers, there is a big radiator at the back of all 3 (this has to be the rad) and into this there looks like tranny lines running into it (I assume the tranny cooler in the rad), but then there is another about the same size as the rad (but skinnier) in front if it and then a small sliver one on the very front drivers side (I think this is power steering).

am I correct with what each one is? if the tranny cooler is in the rad which line is the input and which is the return (top or bottom)

The bigger but skinnier one will be A/C condensor, then Trans and P/S coolers.
