Mine seems to be doing the same thing lately, only after I parked it in my shop for the day to thaw it out. (-40 weather) so I added some gasline antifreeze, and some premium fuel, and it seemed to worked. You may have some condensation in your fuel. Is it a misfire code on #3? cold weather starts seem to set that code when I'm not plugged in. |

was on 5 now it's on six i added some sea foam 1 tank ago and it seemed to do nothing to help. it hasent been cold here till today. yesterday was 70+ here in PA. today is a bit colder (40's) and it started up fine. seems to be a warm start issue. but i am just guessing that one. |

When you changed your plugs, what did the front 2 look like? Where they burnt, or did they have red fluid on them? The 3.7 has problems towards the front. |

Another thing that I would look at is the timing. How many miles does it have on it? Have you replaced the plugs, if so at what miles did you do it? Try putting premium in it to see if it helps. If it does then your timing is probably off. |

Timing in handled by the computer based on the crank position sensor and cannot be changed. Well it could be changed, but you'd have to reflash the computer. My experience with faulty crank position sensors is that they fail completely and the vehicle won't even run. |

Well this is a little off the subject of misfiring...but...if you ever get a chance to remove your valve covers, I think you will be surprised by the "sludge" that will be there. My 2002 and a wrist pin go bad that was hard to diagnos. I removed the valve cover on the side that I suspected was making the tapping noise and could not believe the build up. On top of that two valve springs were cracked. Basically the same condition of the other side when inspected. |
