AEV is probably your best bet, but I didn't see one on their website. I doubt it's a real popular mod because the 3.7 seems pretty beefy... at least beefy enough that it's lower on the list than a SFA. |

Would be ALOT easier to swap out the crappy 42rle for a 45rfe and build the 3.7.. There is alot of things out for it now.. Along with the 45rfe.. |

Supposedly (possible rural legend) there is someone in the Pocono Mt area of PA with a 318 V8 in it. |

I did some measurements and I think the Hemi was too large by a few inches. A 4.7L PowerTech swap should be possible: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=4072 |

How much power does one need ? In real word offroad situations, a lot of power tends to break things. Power derived from the gears to produce torque multiplication would be more practicle. Take the old willys flat fenders, they had 60 hp but 5:13 gears, they would climb a tree if they could reach the first branch and weren't to hard on parts. Sure, power can be fun, but costly. I know some guy's that want to go back to 4 cylinders in thier wranglers, because of parts breakage. I personally wouldn't go that far, I think the 4.0 is just right in lowend torque and decent street performance, but I don't see a need for a v8 swap either. If your talking about a hemie for street performance, there's a lot better arodynamic vehicles out there than the liberty With that said, I'm sure someone will do it, just to show it can be done if nothing else ha ha. |

I wish I could find that guy in the Poconos. My buddy went to look under the hood, after a guy ordered a part for a 360 in his libby. By the time my buddy got out to the parking lot from behind the parts counter the guy was gone. But he swares the guy came into his Jeep dealer and ordered a part he needed for a 360 (5.7l ?) that was in his KJ. Al |

It seems the 4.7 would be the easier motor to swap, as the 3.7 is just a 4.7 with 2 banks loped off, It seems the length would be the biggest issue to over come. All things are posible with enough time and money. There's some out fit out west selling hemie powered wranglers, so I'm sure a kj could be done if someone wanted to devote the resources to it. |

There was some talk years back that when the Liberty was still in the prototype phase, they tested it with a 4.7 v-8. The problem was with the engine intruding into the passenger cabin in the event of an accident. That being said, I think the 4.7 would fit no problem (except for the safety issues) but I don't think the engine bay is large enough to hold the 5.7 without major modifications. If you've ever looked under the hood of a TJ, you would see there is a lot more room in there to squeeze a large engine than there is in a KJ. |

If your 2003 has the 45rfe, a 4.7 could be squeezed into it for around $10k, or a built high output 4.7 for around $15k. Don't have a front end collision though. You'll need to upgrade your torque converter, and get a custom flash. I would recommend building the 3.7 and 45rfe transmission. It can actually be a very nice combination. |

The 5.7 is quite wide, I imagine it can be done but at what cost. On the up side the CRD uses the same tranny as the hemi in the rams do so getting the parts from the tranny back should be easy. Keep in mind your Jeep with a hemi stuffed in will be a 4000lb beast, the LX car's are about that weight too, and run a low 14 second 1/4mile in good conditions. For off road applications it would be more power then you ever need. Though if your going to go this far, go get a 6.1L hemi, the external size is same as the 5.7, it's just the internals that are different. The 5.7 puts out about 270hp to the tires, the 6.1 puts out 368hp to the tires. |

The new KK will probably fit a Hemi inside of it. But most likely it will end up in the Nitro before the Liberty. The V6 in the current Liberty is based off of the V8 that was in an older version of the Grand Cheerokee. If there is any type of engine swap you would want, it would be the V6 BluTech engine. More power, less fuel consumption. |
