Post subject:  Light bar for Liberty?

I am getting my Liberty all decked out this winter and I would like to add a lightbar on top.I do not want the one from the Renegade but something custom. Any ideas, pics or vendors that offer these? 4 Lights, not too big. So far I have a 2.5 inch Rusty's Coil Lift, spare tire on the top. I am considering a safari style roof rack to put the tire in (on top) instaed of right on the cross bars also... can the lights be mounted to this?

Thanks!

I'd do the safari rack and just mount the lights to the rack.

Alot of people on this forum have went that route and seem to be very pleased with the outcome.

OJK, kind of off topic, but concerning callaway's ebay link...

The lights they show are hella 75s. They happen to be the same lights that I have 6 of mounted to my roof rack. I've been trying to find covers for ever and Hella's website doesn;t even list them. But this guy is showing them on the lights. I gotta figure out where he got them.

Same here! However, if you enlarge the pic, it sure looks like the Hella logo on the cover. Possible they only supply them for the Mopar kit? If so, maybe available from dlr as a replacement part?

Found this:

Anyone know if that's an actual Jeep part #?

Update on the covers: Hella shows a clear cover for both the FF 75s and the FF 50s but only in clear. Since the covers would only be put on when the lamps are cold, it would be a cinch to just spray paint the inner side black.

Hella sells a clear lens cover for the FF75, which is part #79159. I haven't seen any info about solid coloured ones though. Also, if you plan to put lights on a roof rack, and need the rack to come off sometimes, you could do what (I think it was) pixeldzn did: use a trailer light connector for easy disconnects.

Lamination, I have your lamination right here.

It's a Surco rack. With KC 160watt Daylighters on the center. Flanked by KC 100watt Flood lights on the ends. I made the light bar that holds the lamps to the rack. Click Here for more photos of the rack and lights http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e176/W3CSX/KCs/

I emailed Hella today. They don't make those covers. Said they were probably a mopar part. so I sent an email to Chrysler customer service. we'll see if they actually answer as to whether they can sell just the covers.

Here is the item from the Mopar.com site under the 2007 commander section...

Quote:
Lighting & Electrical > Off-Road Lights > Lights, Off-Road
Designed to fit Light Bar or Roof Basket. These lights are offered in a variety of sizes and styles and use bullet wire connectors. Packaged in pairs and include lens covers.

Add Part # Name Description Price
82208488AB Lights, Off-Road Set of 2 rectangular Lamps with Black plastic housing, 55-watt, 90,000 candle power, with Hella/Mopar logo covers. $129

The 2007 Wranger actually says Hella FF&%s, but says they don't come with the covers.

Jeep says that 2 are 90,000 cp. That means I have 270,000 up there. WEE! I think I might get a set of the Hella 100w bulbs and put them in the center set. That way I'd have 2 55w pushing out in a pencil beam on the sides, then 2 55w fogs brightening up the local area, then 2 100w pencil beams pushing straight ahead center.

Or would the 100w be better served with the fog lense instead of the driving lens?

100w bulbs are a great upgrade even on the Hella 500.

With 10awg wiring, I run 130w bulbs in mine, I have to turn them off when stopped for a prolonged period of time though....but they are very brite.

Now that I have 4 Hella 500's I'll probably step back to 100w in all 4 lights....400w should be plenty plus the Silverstar Headlights!!! LOL
