Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I have recently noticed that when I first start the Libby on a cold morning and begin to back out of my driveway I hear a crunching sound that sounds like it is coming from the rear differential. It sounds like someone put a handful of rocks in the differential. The only time I have heard this is when I first drive it in the morning. Any thoughts |

Have you verified the fluid level lately? I'm no diff expert, but I would check that out. I think you can basically pull the plug and put your finger in to check the level. |

psinsyd...yes, I check the fluid level first thing. That was my first thought too. Fluid level is normal with no signs of any leak. The Libby has less than 15,000 miles on it. Doug |

Cool. I would definitely let the dealer check it out with that little mileage on it. Nothing else really comes to mind other than fluid at that mileage. |

Could just be sand/dirt in the rear breaks. I'd clean those out just to make sure before I went to the dealer. |

A lot of libertys have rear brake issues. I know of a few personal that don't seem to like to release right a way. Maybe this is the problem with yours. Mine did that for a while but doesnt seem to any more. I have 20,000 on an '06. |

its probably the rear brakes. Mine does that when it is humid outside and it only has 8K miles. At my last oil change the dealer cleaned the pads and the noise dissapeared (but only for a month or so). |
