| Post subject: | Question regarding Lower Ball Joint recall... |
I made an appointment for next week to get my lower ball joints replaced via the recall. My question is this- Will my Libby need an alignment? The person who I talked to suuggested I get an alignment($59.95 my cost) since it has 35k miles on it. Should this be included in the recall or not? Thanks in advance for any help. Chad |

From the discussions on here it seems that an alignment is not part of the recall. As to whether one is needed or not after the recall, the jury seems to be out. Some say the alignment won't be affected, others say it will. I guess it can't hurt in either case. |

I had my recall done yesterday and no alignment was done. From a driving standpoint, everything seems good with the alignment. |

funny when we had the recall done on ours they did that and they aligned it and changed the oil and we paid $0.00 we do have a copon book with free oil changes for like 7 years though but the alignment was free also and I know they did it because it had a pull but I knew I was getting the recal done in a few weeks so I let it ride and after recal it is going strait also I can see the clean metal where the lower A arm was |

Chad Whether it needs an alignment or not can be debated. However, if the chrysler/dealer says an alignment is need due to recall work, then it should be covered. |

It's called upselling. They tell you all sorts of things that you "need" to have done in order to make more money on each vehicle that comes into the shop. An alignment is NOT needed for the recall. If you had a good alignment before the recall, you should have the same afterwards. If your alignment is bad, then replacing the ball joints could actually correct it, since it could be the loose tolerances in the joint that is causing the problem. In any case, I would not get an alignment done until after I saw how it drove after the recall is done. |

+1 All they do is press the old out and put in the new. "Should" not need alignment. |

Just had mine done today. They told me no alignment was needed and to be honest it didn't seem to affect the alignment at all. |
