Have a couple of ??'s about the 03-04 Liberty. Please stay with me as I might sound like a Jeeptard! Are the 2003 Libertys Trail Rated? I dont see any with the TR Badge? What the heck is trail rated? Is it an option for 2003 and does it come with more off road features or is it just a badge? Does the Renegade come with the Off Road Package? (skid plates) What 4wd system is better command trac or selec trac? Is the Trac Loc differential a good option? What is the alternative? Most importantly, is there any way of telling what vehicles are equipped with what options without seeing a window sticker or calling every jeep seller? For example, typing in the vin # and viewing the options or calling a dealer with the vin? This would be a great service. Thanks for your help! I will post any further ??'s as I think of them. I have no car right now so I want to make an educated decesision but FAST> |

I have no car right now so I want to make an educated decesision but FAST> Trail rated is nothing more than a badge/sticker it means nothing ,clever marketing scam I have seen renegades with out skids ,they were the newer body style, but I have seen it so don't go with that as a "tail of off road options" some think that the renny has some magic that the others don't "not so much" The difference between the 2 4wd systems will depend largely on what you plan to use it for the one with the "full time mode" is better if you live in an area where it snows other wise get the standard 3 speed case (2wd 4hi & 4lo) I don't do names it can be converted to have 4 to 1 low and you can put a SYE kit in it if you wanted Trac loc works ok not as good as a tru trac but better than being "open as church" true trac is an alternative as far as LSD's go a locker would be better but if you want fast I would take the trac loc if it has it but if it don't no biggie I would not rely on the window sticker to tell you what a vehical has most car dealers think that cause it has 4wd that it has a "off road package" not true I would look for a jeep that you want then when you find it go crawl under it and look to see if it has skids and how bad were they beat on doing things like that you can find a great deal on a rig that some girl in collage drove to and from school and then decided that it was more of a novelty and less of a comuter |

I have no car right now so I want to make an educated decesision but FAST> TR badge means nothing.. Some rennys DO NOT come with skids. Stupid, I know, but they were an option. I would get one with the offroad pack b/c it comes with skids, tow hooks, and HD cooling. command trac just has 2wd, 4part, and 4low. It is best to NOT use this on blacktop. Selectrac comes with a fulltime option which can be used on blacktop, rain, patchy snow, etc. Trac-loc is just a limited slip. It does help offroad and thats all the 02-05 libbys came with. 06-07 libby have traction control and trac-loc is not an option. A locker can be put in the rear diff which is better than a Limited slip.. Not sure about the last quesiton.. Other than look at the jeep to see what i thas. skid plates(offroad pack), etc.. There should be a tag on the right side of the rear axle that tells you if its open or has a limited slip. welcome to lost |

You can go to this site: http://www-5.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp?screenName=customer&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%28%27R%27%29 and ask for a build sheet and type in the last 10 digits of the vin. They will email you a document telling you exactly what the jeep had on it at the factory. I have only done this for my jeep though, for some reason they may need you to be the owner...im not sure. i dont know why it would make any diffference, but it would be worth a try anyway. You can also type the last 10 digits of the vin in here: http://www-5.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp?screenName=recall&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%28%27R%27%29 to find out what recalls or service has not been perfomed on the vehicle. I think I pasted the sites in there right for them to be links...never did that before. hopefully it will work! [/url] |

Haha...yea mine isn't trail rated. Doesn't mean its NOT as capable as the rest... As for the T-case....you're guna have a hard time trying to find one in Selec-Trac depending on where you live. I searched and searched and searched for one w/ Selec-Trac and of about 30-40 rigs that I had seen...only ONE had it and it was FAR off...I believe in Illinois. I test drove many liberties before finding mine....and all that I had driven were Command-Tracs. My rig is Command-Trac and I dont mind it at all. Then again I wouldn't mind the Selec-Trac but it just wasn't possible. Either way...you'll appreciate the 4X4 capabilities of the KJ. Good luck in your searches and I hope you find the KJ you like! Welcome to LOST! |

Brand new BFG A/T ko Tires. It sounds like what I am looking for as long as its not all beat to .... I am waiting on more pictures I will post what I end up getting. Thanks for the information! Well, If he buys mine he will be 1.5" taller than a pre-lowered and it has a 45rfe with Selec-trac. Looks like a no brainer to me. |

i wouldnt want it raised that much. id rather have my cv joints last the life of the jeep, but to each his own. but i certainly would never use bfg ATs, they really suck on ice and snow where i live, personal experience that i dont want to repeat. |

I plan on buying another set of BFG t/a Ko's You most likely had the old tread pattern. The new tread grips well on all surfaces and are very quiet on the road. Cv joints go out from extreme angles. You have to get alot more than 2.5" to blow a cv. |

nope it was the new tread that i hated so much. and the price is just friggin silly. go to tirerack.com and get some decent tires at a much better price than you can find locally. for us, its cheaper to order ground shipping and they show up from reno faster than air shipping does, next day. air takes a few days to here. |
