Post subject:  HELP LIGHTS DONT WORK

went to get the mail today, first thing, when i opened the door, the lights didnt come on, thought it was a dead battery, tried the liftgate on the way to the drivers side, nothing.

started right up, but no interior lights would come on, door locks dont work, no head lights.

i could flash on the highbeams pulling back on the turnsignal, brake lights work.

which fuse is it? i cant find any burnt?

help!!! its getting cold and gunna snow soon, we might have to drive at night.

thank you guys so much

update: i pulled #15 on the left side of the dash, when i put it back in , the interior lights flashed twice, then went out. subsequent tries only makes a single clicking noise from the center of the dash, and "12:00" on the radio.

still no lights. last car payment this month. yay.

Hmmm....Maybe its more than just the fuse box. I had a time where my dash lights went off/on and the door locks went nuts and crazy. Come to find out I had a BCM problem. That was when I first bought the Jeep though.

turn the inside lights on by turning the little wheel on the multi function switch. the same place you turn the headlights on. Tell us how that works out for ya. :)

turning the switch did nothing, no interior, no exterior lights.

just try replacing the fuse...they can go bad w/o looking "blown"...

which fuse? i put 3 different ones in spot 15 and they did nothing, other than the aformentioned single click and the 12 on the clock

Not to say your stupid or anything. But are you sure your turning the wheel that turns the inside lights on and off? It also dims and dash lights when the head lights are on. Turn the Head lights on and see if you can dim the dash lights. Just to check and make sure the little wheel still works. if the inside lights are flashing, then its probably not a fuse. Could be a bad relay? :?

no worries mate, neither the inside nor the outside lights come on, no matter where you turn all the things you can turn on the light control stick. and still no door locks.

o and i was being dexlexic and had previously said it was fuse #15, it was a 15 amp fuse in position 34.

update, after 30 minutes of leaving the fuse in, the clock has stayed on the entire time, pulled it back out

i guess ill wait til daylight and ill pull them all and check close.

i am curious as to why there is a fuse that says something about under hood light when there is no under hood light.

Have you tried looking at the codes on the insturment cluster to see if there is a larger problem than just the fuse?

When I first read this thread, I instantly thought the multifunction switch. But then I have been stuck trying to figure out why your windows, radio and interior lights will not go on either. The head lights and radio are obviously not on the same circuit so it can't be just 1 single fuse.

Does your Liberty start right up? Foregoing the possibillity of a dead battery...

If you can't get any codes to show up - it might be a smart idea to head to the dealer for a diagnotics check

Ohh, I misunderstood. Didnt know it wasnt just the inside lights!

The bcm controls all of that. Ive read about those going bad.. Could be that. :?

As I mentioned in my post above about the BCM. It's a very good possibility since you are also stating your power locks are not working.

Follow this link and also the directions. Then match the codes found on the list.

is there a trick to it? i dont get anything but the odometer

Author:  MoladoGuy [ Wed Dec 13, 2006 4:17 pm ]

Hmmm not really a trick with it. Maybe its different for 02's? I know many other folks have had to use different methods, but they had different year models all together.

Keep the key in the last position when you do it. Make sure your odometer is showing total mileage rather than the other screen that shows tracking mileage (where you can reset it to 0). I'm just throwing out guesses but hopefully it will help.

i know several fuse positions don't line up with the manual/lid...there have been a lot of people who said they were different r they found the right fuse in a different location...I'd check them all
