Well, It has been a while since I did anything nice for the Liberty so this Christmas I went ahead and bought myself a very expesnive golf course finder. So far, this thing is pretty acurate and very portable.

After the holiday's it will be the 60,000 mile service and a new set of tires.

GPS units can't find my house.
They are nice and you can do neat tricks with them, like overlay your route on Google Earth if you want to blog about where you have been.

But, alas, I will stick with paper maps a while longer.

Your Liberty will be happy for the attention.

Is that a skill cordless drill on your bench? We have two of those and the charges went bad. We have around 4 batteries that are now probably bad b/c we cannt find a charger anywhere.. do you know where we could find one? If that is a skill cordless drill. I think ours are 14.4volt..

Sorry for OT.. NICE GPS! Im getting delorme for my laptop.. Comes with the antenna and everything.. Its only $100 and I get to use a 17in widescreen.. hehe. 8)

I can check on the Drill for you. I can't remember the voltage. At last count I had 4 craftsman cordless drills (thanks dad!) from past christmas'es, plus 3 other cordless drills. Tools I have but their too spread out right now because we just moved into our house a year ago so I haven't had time to setup the garage yet.

The reason I didn't go with the laptop setup: I wanted to be able to put this thing in my pocket for secturity reasons. I thought it would be easier to carry this, than a laptop bag around with me. At first, I was worried about the size (3.5" dia screen) but in the small cockpit of the Liberty - it's perfectly sized.

Ohh yea.. I do not travel to much but it would be alot more practical to have what you have.. I will only use my setup when Im going offroading with the midwest guys so I can follow where were going or if Im going on a trip by myself. I get lost way to often.. :?

"Can I have another mulligan?" is my usual golf line...
Sweet GPS. How much $ and how hard is it to hook up?

It was pretty easy to hook up. Right now, the power cable is pluged into my cigarette lighter (switched power source) and then I ran the wire behind the steering column cover, up through the fuse panel opening, between the small gap at the A pillar / IP interface and up to the suctioncup mounting. If I can get a second power wire - I'll try to hard wire it so that I can regain the use of my power outlet.

As far as cost, the unit was on sale, and I had a coupon so I ended up paying $450.00 instead of the regular price of $600.00

good choice on the GPS. I myself have a garmin, I have the streetpilot 340.

Did the same thing you did on the routing of the power wire as well.

Circuit city (and i'm sure other places) sells a Cigarette lighter adapter that is hardwireable. I bet you could easily fit that behind the steering colum and run the power cord to there. That way you can still unplug it and take your power cord quite easily.

Hey Sleeve. Don't tell but I found out my girlfriend bought me one of those for christmas too! I'm directionally challenged, so I'm sure it'll rock.

I drive woodward from pontiac to royal oak every day. Keep an eye out for a silver '03 renny or a yellow S2000 and wave.

Thanks for the tip on the hard wire option. I'll head over to CC after work and see if they have one in stock.

Detroit - I've seen a convertible S2000 a few times on Woodward over the summer. My Silver liberty blends in pretty good but I've got an 89X static cling on the inside of my flipper glass.

I'll keep an eye out for you.

In the summer I usually have a bike rack on my libby. But in the winter it looks like any other renny. I haven't seen any other yellow S2000's around. But if you want to be sure, if it's obnoxiously loud, it's mine

Jeepster - I checked... that skill box actually is a jig saw. Sorry man.

Racein - the unit retails at www.crutchfield.com for $699.99 Last week they had a specail on it for for $100.00 plus I had a cupoun so I got it for 550. But if you consider that is the almost what it costs to get the RB1 off of eBay and this unit is more accurate, has 6,000,000 points of interest and you can take it with you!
