| Post subject: | Suspension noise ***Update*** |
I posted this earlier and thought maybe this was just because it was colder. But it really sounds like it's bottoming out when it hit even a little road bump (normal street driving) straight on. Never when turning (like going up in my drive way but if I take a big turn and hit my drive way straight on there is a scraping noise). It can't be bottoming out because I've hit bigger bumps off road and hit moving up and down more than this. It's under warranty and am calling my dealer today but I just want some opinions before I walk in. Thanks. |

Are you still on stock tires? Perhaps if your turning sharp and hitting bumps the tire is rubbing the wheel well? Just a thought... |

It could still be the tire hitting the top of the wheel well perhaps. If you hit your driveway at a good enough speed straight on perhaps the wheels are hitting the top of the wheel well or backside of the fender in the wheel well...just another thought...but maybe it is doing that because the struts aren't quite what they used to be?? You don't wheel that often do you, or at all, I suspect so I would think your stock setup should be spared the extra stress that those wheeling give to it, unless you just have horrible city streets like here in Memphis... |

Can you describe the noise a little better? I just posted a thread in the 4x4 section because I was having some suspension noises too. Take a look: LINK |

I'll know tomorrow when the dealer looks at it. Hopefully it's covered under warranty. The noise is scrapping/scrounching noise. Not a pop. I haven't been on anything too hardcore for trails but I can't say what the previous owner did. |

It really sounds like the front swaybar bushing. I hear it when it gets cold. Adding some grease inside makes it go away for a while. |

I was told by my dealer today that they couldn't really find anything wrong. They could here something but it was pretty minor. He said it's probably a bushing on the swing arm. He told me not to worry about and to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to stop in and he'll go with me to hear the noise and that anything that's wrong the warranty should cover it. So on my way home, I hear nothing. They might have went through and tightened or lubed stuff up... |
