So I just got done rescuing an Explorer in about a foot and a half of rain water....on a major road. It's pourin like a mofo down here. Pretty sure he's screwed but Ihope I'm not. I had to sit there for a minute while we strapped up and then as I am getting ready to tug a little beep went off, similar to the low gas warning only I am not out of gas. Anyone else had this happen? I probably outta have the xmission fluid changed ASAP huh? |

You should at least have it checked, and the diffs as well. I am going to get a camera just to keep in the jeep, so that when I have a story like this no one can say--- Where are the PICTURES! |

True but the sitting still part is what worried me plus the beep sound. |

I might have figured out the beep. I had the rear glass open to throw out the line. That must have been it..... |

Yeah, having the flipper glass open while driving will definitely cause a beep. It should stop beeping after some time, though. On my EVIC I could clear it. |

I drive around alot with my rear glass open and I have to push the latch in to get the beeping to go away. Im sure thats what it was.. Usually, if the water isnt above the rocker rails, you are fine. I believe jeep says you can go through 20 inches of water with out problems, and thats from jeep. Many people do not know this, but that trail rated badge does have a meaning, and one of them is water forwarding at least 20 inches of water. You can get on Jeep.com and read about all that stuff. Edit: Clicky |

Mickey Ds in a Bass boat.... After a bad of fishing I guess. LOL It was definately the rear glass. I got it to beep again while I didn't have wake from other cars coming at me. Still got an appointment to change some fluids for the sake of my Christmas voyage. |

When you hear a beep look on you odometer, it will tell you if you have a door open, low washer fluid, low fuel all kinds of stuff, I read somewhere that you can go through water that is up to the middle of your headlights without causing a problem, but then again mine is a standard, i have run down creeks deeper than the water in those pics, you should be fine remember it IS a jeep..... |

The headlight rule of thumb is so you don't get any water into your intake, which sits at headlight level. I've heard that you should change the diff lube if you submerge the axle for more than a few moments.
