RockAuto.com is out and hasn't been able to contact Stant to get more.

I just ordered one from jparts. It's listed as one of their hottest sellers. Hope they still have one.

I've just realised that mine isn't a locking one. On my previous vehicle (Renault Laguna), the gas cap flap was locked via the central locking. I just assumed the KJ was the same. :)

A buddy of mine works for the stealership in the body shop. He said that there is a anti siphoning device. So the locking gas cap is really not needed. I am real courious if I can push a hose down the filler to see if he is right. The other concern would be if some ******* would put something down the filler just to be mean, Has anyone siphoned gas out of their KJ?

I was told the same thing by a good friend that works for NAPA. He said that ALL vehicles after 02 had this feature. I told my wife at least it will still act as a deterant and steer people away.

It's a good idea, my luck would be someone would try to siphon some gas, couldn't, then throw some gravel or dirt in there cause they couldn't siphon.

So we should tell DC to start putting locks on the gas cap cover. My `95 Camry had a locking cover so no need for a locking gas cap. Of course, those little door/covers can easily be bent and broken by a criminal. Locking gas caps are a little harder to break through.

Not yet. And I do like the fact that I can if need be. My limited came w/ the DC locking cap.

IMO, it makes better sense to go w/ a cap.

Well, I just went out and tried running a hose down my filler tube, same one I've used to siphon gas out of my '98 Dakota before. Got the hose about 6-8" down the tube and it ran into something :? I think I'll leave my locking gas cap on anyway.

I'm personally more worried about the plastic gas tank than I am about a locking gas cap. If your a thief and you had the option of tasting gas or just getting a hammer and a screwdriver and poking a hole in the gas tank, which would you do?

Parakeet

Cover it with a steel Kilby skidplate. Which is exactly what I did.

Well, there's a benefit I never thought of. I'm glad I got mine. At $150, it's a great bargain.

I ordered a locking gas cap, too...maybe it's unnecessary. Oh, well, at least it would keep a potential thief from probing.

Gas thiefs should be treated like cattle rustlers and strung up!

Post subject:  Stant Caps don't work

Just opened my gas tank. Put the key turned it and pulled.
Out came the lock. The cap remained.
What a wonderful product. NOT.

Did you buy from the Trucktoy's site you posted previously here? If so, send it back. If they give you BS, tell 'em you'll stop payment. Hopefully they will replace it.
