| Post subject: | replacing ignition coil |
has anyone had to replace the ign. coil on their 4cyl liberty yet? In trying to solve my wife's ongoing issues with this car, a mechanic told me the #3 cyl had a miss in it and it could be reltaed to coil (i've replaced wires and plugs) not much else left to do. Right now there are no codes showing, but there is a persistent misfire under load (going up hill or too low rpm for gear) I can't find a vacuum leak which was my first thought but the vacuum gauge holds steady. |

Have you troubleshoot the following yet? The ignition system consists of: • Spark Plugs • Ignition Coil(s) • Powertrain Control Module (PCM) • Crankshaft Position Sensor • 2 Knock Sensors (3.7L only) • Camshaft Position Sensor • The MAP, TPS, IAC and ECT also have an effect on the control of the ignition system. Engine: 2.4L Coil Manufacture: Toyodenso or Diamond Primary Resistance at 21°C-27°C (70°F-80°F): 0.51 to 0.61 Ohms Secondary Resistance at 21°C-27°C (70°F-80°F):11,500 to 13,500 Ohms I hope this helps. |

You can have the ignition coil pack tested at autozone for free. This will help determine if that is the problem. Swaping them out is easy. unplug, Undo bolt, pull out, put in new one. Another thing you may want to try is swithing the packs from the # 3 cylinder to another and then see if you get a code for misfire in the cylinder you put the #3 pack in. |
