Has anyone heard an update on the estimated availabilityof the front bumper? Are the '05-'06 going to be available as well as for the earlier models at the same time?
I broke in my new winch this past weekend and ended up doing a number on my front bumper. It's on the verge of falling off.
Does anyone have any experience using a receiver hitch/bumper mounted winch? Other than sticking out a little too far, my frame mounted receiver hitch on the front held up fine to some heavy winching. My fear with a bumper mounted setup is that it isn't as solid, and might torque the whole assembly around when used for heavy winching.

I moved the winch carrier in further and drilled another hole because it was sticking out too far for me. Just try to keep from winching to one side, always winch straight on and you should be fine.

Where did he get one? He cancelled his order, and the front bumpers are still in prototyping.

Well, I thought I was. Eddo asked me to come over to work on KJs with JasonK. I guess their was an assumption that it was the bumper that JasonK had been talking about. Sorry folks, thats what I get for ASSuME-ing. I guess I'll find out what we're playing with Saturday morning...

I appreciate the humor, but could you maybe answer the original question? Or my email from Mon., or my PM....

I hope the '06 are ready as I ordered one in Nov and was told April delivery.

I order mine in October; it’s for my 02 Liberty and still have not heard when they are expected only that they are sill in prototype. But hopefully they will be out by early spring. :)

The 05-and later models I'm assuming will probably be longer.

I was with BJ'naKJ when he broke in his winch. Ouch, not pretty - turn signals popped out of their eye sockets! Rock Lizard needs to get moving. How long can a piece of solid state steel be in "prototype?"

At least until my rear bumpers are done.

I'm sure he's doing the best he can. It's not just the front bumper he is producing...he's got the Skink Sliders, the rear bumpers, not to mention all of his XJ stuff and other sorts of business like family and stuff to worry about...He'll get ya hooked up, just a wee bit more patience may be in order...my .02

I know rocklizard is very busy. I just ordered some skink sliders from him and was told about 4 to 5 weeks before they would be ready. I am ok to wait. I know he is working on the bumpers as quickly as he can.

Trust me guys, the front, nor the rear for that matter, ar solid state steel bumpers like the cheapo 3x5 tube steel ones on e-bay for the cherokees. Marty and I have talked at great length at how it would be simpler, and quicker, in some ways, but not the quality he wants to put his name on, and I don't blame him. The front design has had a few tweaks on the internals based on the beating up, I mean testing, we did on mine in Moab and here. There is a lot of welding on these bumpers due to the front and rear of our jeeps not being square like the cherokee was. And he is a dang perfectionist, so at least the time is going toward a great product vs some POS that will rust off your junk in 2 years...

Well I'm comforted by the fact that people that know Marty are defending him and his products. Makes him out to be a stand up guy making quality products. I also would rather wait for quality than a rushed POS, but to me he's a business I sent money for a product that is undelivered. (I mean no offense personally by that. Business is business.). When that happens, I expect businesses to be upfront and at least reply to emails. I dont want an unachievable delivery date just for the sake of response. I'd just like to know ABOUT when. Two months after they were due out he posted an apology. That's fine. It's two months since then. What are we looking at now? Weeks? Months?

I ordered both the Skink Super Sliders and a front bumper in mid/late October 2006. I spoke to Marty (Rock Lizard Fabrications) on 1-12-07 my super sliders were being shipped and I should have those by the end of next week. He made up for being late on the delivery date, which I really didn’t mind but appreciated. I asked about the front bumper and he said just like USAFCOP said that the front bumper is still being tested and being perfected. He gave me an estimated time of shipping by April. He said he is trying to have them sent out in time for Moab.

Personally I don’t know Marty but I think he is doing a great job by putting himself out their. Patience is something that goes along with a small company like Rock Lizard Fabrications. One thing you also have to realize he not only specifies in KJ he also does work on XJs. He mentions he is going to focus more on the KJ which I’m sure we will all appreciate with future RL products.
