Post subject:  LIFT QUESTIONS

OK, YOU GUYS THAT HAVE LIFTED YOUR LIBS ARE GONNA SAY, "WHAT- AGAIN!?!"
BUT I'M ONLY EXPERIENCED WITH SIMPLE WAGONEERS!

I'D LIKE A LITTLE LIFT, DON'T WANT TO GET TO TRICKY OR EXPENSIVE. ALSO DON'T WANT TO MAKE A 'BAD RIDE' OR PUT WEAK PARTS ON A STOCK '03 RENEGAADE.
I HAVE ALREADY PUT 245'S ON, NO RUB REGARDLESS OF WHAT I DO, SO FAR.
NEXT SET OF TIRES I'D LIKE TO GO ONE OR TWO BIGGER, MORE OFF-ROAD'ISH, MAYBE A GEOLANDER 265. DON'T WANT TO TRIM ANYTHING. I CAN MANAGE A SLIGHT RUB AT FULL STUFF, BUT ONLY SLIGHT.
I'M NOT A 'MANIACLE OFF-ROADER' WITH THIS RIG, AS I HAVE A COUPLE OTHERS FOR THAT, BUT WOULD LIKE JUST A LITTLE MORE OUT OF THE LIB...
I'VE SEEN THE THREADS DESCRIBING THE LIFTS THEMSELVES, BUT NOT SO MUCH ON HOW FOLKS ARE GETTIN ALONG WITH THEM.
I'M THINKING A GOOD SOLID SPACER W/ MY SPRINGS AND SUCH. WILL THIS DO?

SO...
WHAT GET'S ME ANOTHER INCH OR TWO, IS INEXPENSIVE AND SIMPLE TO INSTALL, AND IS TRUSTWORTHY PARTS.

There are 1", 1.5", 2", 2.5", and supposedly 3" lifts out there. How big o you want to go?

You obviously don't have agressive treads if you got 245's (70 or 75?) on with no rub.

Rusty's 2.5" Coil Lift is great. Best bang for the buck. No issues on my end and I have had it for two years which include two LOST Moab trips and plenty of Rocky Mountain trail excitement.

If I were you, I'd start with a clevis lift in the front and a pair of spring isolators in the rear. If that's not enough, then either a 2" RevTek spacer lift for $200ish, or a 2.5" Rusty's coil lift for about $500 would be the way to go. I'd also spend the extra $300 for the Rusty's for ride quality, but I've never done a comparison with spacer vs. coil lift to feel the difference.

I have OME shocks front and rear, OME HD rear springs, and rustys springs on the front with two conduit nuts under the clevis. The jeep sits perfectly level and I ended up getting right at 2.5in of lift on the front and around 2.25in of lift on the rear. The ride is awesome although I feel like the front suspension bottoms out in the downward travel to often. I couldnt imagine how it would be with the franken lift since its a bigger lift, thus giving less downward travel. Maybe its just the roads around here(alot of dips and such)? :?

Post subject:  Daystar KJ09123

WGN Man,

Welcome to the forums!

For a small boost that won't break the bank, I've been happy with my Daystar KJ09123 lift ($170 + shipping from All-J Products). It's advertised as 1.5" front and 2" rear. I didn't take pre- and post-lift measurements to gauge the actual lift it provides, but I know it's enough to make a difference. The back sits just a little higher than the front, which I like, and keeps the butt from sagging when hauling a heavy load. At 46K miles, I'm riding on the original factory struts and shocks. I've only had the lifted KJ off road once, and I noticed a better breakover angle. For example, in the second pic below, unlifted I would have scraped my muffler going over that hump. Lifted, I didn't make contact at all.

FWIW, I my 245/70R16 front tires rubbed at full lock before the lift. No rubbing at all now. Ride comfort isn't any worse than stock.

Have fun outfitting your Jeep!

T.J.
