Ok I've seen alot of cracked radiator threads. I myself had to replace my radiator no sooner than a week after I bought the libby. First and Last Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep I will ever buy due to many problems. But thats another subject. I'm curious how many people have had their radiators crack or leak?

I have had the radiator replaced at around 81K due to a crack...I bought it used at 78K. It's just a wear item...given that it has plastic corners. Dont give up hope on Daimler-Chrysler or Jeep...all vehicles break or go through certain items. It's just part of owning a vehicle.

The KJ will come through for you...they are dependable besides the LBJ problems...

I have a 2002 Ford F-150 and a 99 chevy Silvarado that both had their radiators to crack. Both had a little over 40 K when they were replaced. It is not just the Jeeps.

When did you buy it?

I have a 02 Liberty with about 85K miles on it. No cracks (knock on wood).
What have they been replacing the crack ones with?
I hope it’s not the same stock radiator unless they got rid of the plastic caps.

Bought it because at the time I had a baby on the way. I sold my 97 Cobra with 150k (not a single problem with it and still ran strong) My wife thought the libby was cute and I needed a 4 door vehicle. Plus I thought I could play in the mud a little. I bought it from a dealer used with 50k and all service records from that dealer.
1. I had alot of vibration when I steped on the brakes a week after I bought it. Dealer said they checked out the brakes before hand. tore it apart and decided to replace the front rotors. ok. In the process of installing the new rotors I noticed the dealer forgot to install a shim causing the vibration. Ok no big deal.
2. Radiator cracks and leaks while on a road trip causing the vehicle to overheat. I limped to my destination and replaced the radiator myself.
3. the trans fluid was replaced before I bought it. the dealer didn't torque the trans pan bolts and caused a major leak on my driveway.
4. now sometimes when I put it into drive it acts like I put it into 2nd gear position and doesn't shift until I put it back into park and into drive.
5. Ball joints are loose. TWO RECALLS ON THE F$#% BALL JOINTS! Cant they get this crap right.
6. Windshield cracked for no apparent reason.
7. All of a sudden both front speakers blow.
8. drivers side window stoped working.
9 Now my oil light comes on every time I step on the brakes or turn a corner (oil pressure sending unit).
10. Dont make me mention 14 mpg out of a v6!

I am fixing my Problems and taking a loss. Yes it may be a lemon but LAST DC VEHICLE I EVER BUY!

If you think that's bad....go take a look in the CRD forum.... They have more problems than just about any other vehicle made!

In all seriousness....give Jeep a chance. You just got the bad end of the stick...things break on used vehicles. My radiator has been replaced and the windshield washer pump went out. It's just that things go out. I hope you dont think that all other vehicles are "perfect".

never said that all other vehicles are perfect. I didn't expect all of this crap to fall apart after 50k miles, specialy on a vehicle that has been serviced at a dealer all its life. I'm a ford man myself and have never taken a vehicle to a dealer or any mechanic for any maintenance besides tires and paint. I work on my own vehicles and have put well over 100k on many fords without having this much trouble. I checked out this site before I got the liberty and seen all the people raving about it on here. Seems to me like there are to many people on this site that cant even change their own oil.

Mine started leaking at the top corner on the driver's side at about 35k. We replaced it with a 3 core aluminum radiator. Some of the Liberty's other known weak points are the ball joints, the front diff, the ECU, the torque converter, the transmission valve body, the head gasket, the pistons and rings, ....

That's why people say Jeeps are built, not bought. It would be nice if DC would release a version that you don't feel like you need to upgrade before you even buy it.

In my opinion, a used DC vehicle bought at a dealership that was also servicing it is asking for trouble. I've learned to never let the dealerships touch my Jeep unless they have to do a recall. I usually schedule some maintenance with a mechanic I trust right afterwards.

14 mpg? you either have a heavy foot, or theres something else seriously wrong... when i was stock i got average of 19 thats with the A/C on. during the winter it was more like 22. I get average of 16 and 20-22 when driving between 50-60mph. and thats with a 3" lift, 245/75 mtr's, ARB, Winch, and Warn lights, and all the other stuff listed below..

P.S. I did all the work on my jeep aside from having the muffler welded in...

Well theres your problem, you let the dealer get ahold of it.

Sounds to me like most of your problems were caused by the dealership.

I haven't had my radiator go out - but does anyone have a link to the Aluminum radiator? I'd really like to replace my stocker when I do my 60K mile service stuff.
