How many of you have 06+ Libbys with 245/75/R16s and are having issues with the ESP going off because of the bigger tires? I'm lifting my '07 and want to get 245/75s meats but I've been reading about how bigger tires can wreak havoc on ESP systems(Not just the Libby), especially at highway speeds. Any input? I'd rather stay with stock size than be irritated with problems after I drop $600 on a set of bigger tires, ya know?

Well, I have the 6spd, so I'm used to the ESP going off all the time; however, I haven't noticed any changes going from 29's to 32's...

I dont have any experience with the issue, but I dont really see how tire size would affect the ESP system anyhow. What kind of havoc do you speak of?

I have about 6k miles on my 245/75/16 MTRs on my '06. I have rarely if ever had ESP activate on-road. It will flash briefly going fast over railroad tracks, but it did that with stock tires.
I don't think it's an issue.

I'll get the ESp light to go off if I take a corner hard.. not sure if it's cause of the tires or the liftkit... I can hear/feel something rubbing then the light goes off and the system kicks in.. I did some trimming in my fender well but I still get a light every now and then.. nothing to stess about though.,.

It's probably not the tires but the lift. With a higher center of gravity, the body lean is more pronounced and may thus trigger the esp when it isn't really needed. Also be sure your KJ's front end is properly aligned. This can also affect the esp.

....for on icy roads. This is the only time, IMO, that the ESP is worth anything. Since putting my Daystar 2.5" lift on, the ESP is ridiculously oversensitive, even when the button is pushed and the system is supposedly deactivated. If you put a lift and 31" MTRs on your ESP equipped Liberty, forget about driving agressively at all on the road, and it's not great on the trail either. You can only take turns about 5 mph over the speed suggested on road signs alerting you of a turn ahead in the road. And it will kill your power when trying to climb a muddy/sloppy hill and get a little sideways while digging for traction.

If anyone sees this thread and knows of any kind of way to voluntarily fully disengage and reengage this system please PM me and/or write a specific post about it somewhere on the LOST boards.

Pull the ABS Fuse.

That's the only method I know of. It's ALL controlled through the ABS system.

As I'm sure you understand, when turned off (partially disengaged) the ESP only operates with regards to the "limited slip" feature. So if fully disengaged, you are basically working with open differentials if still stock.
I've done a fair amount of four wheeling with ESP and it certainly isn't perfect. There is a definite delay in engagement of the limited slip type feature.
But I've had the ESP completely fail twice now for unknown reasons when wheeling hard where the error light comes on and it's open differentials from that point on.
