Its time to remove the window tint I had installed on the front windows, it has turned a shade of purple and is beginnning to "deteriorate". The last time I did it on my old neon i ended up using a razor blade which left me with some nice etching in the windows. What is the best way to remove window tint, and hopefully the least aggrivating way?

They actually sell a some type of chemical spray that you apply after you have pealed off the tint. Then just use some elbow grease and scrub away all the messy sticky glue. The way I’ve removed tint is just peal it off from one of the edges.

i have done this once, i peeled the tint off, then you have to remove the glue. if you mix a spray bottle full of water with couple drop of dish soap it will soften the glue and can be scaped off with a razor blade. once softened you dont need much effort to remove. just dont push to hard as to scratch the glass. hope that helps. maybe you can stop in to where you got it done and ask them how to do it.

go buy a HEAT GUN works awesome, in my 12+ years detailing cars for dealers & other wise we've always used one for Tint shouldn't leave any glue behind & if so not much that some windex & a razor blade can't handle

there are two ways we used to do it when I worked ina tint shop.

you can buy some glass safe razor blades, and yes they do make such a thing, use hot soapy water and start scaping. The white dawn soap seem to work the best.

or you can go get an orange oil bases degreaser and a white scotch brite pad and rubb it off. the white scotch brite won't scratch glass like razor blades can.

either way it's a mess crappy job. good luck, and beware the fumes when you peel off purple tint. that stuff is bad

Yes, MEK is methyl ethyl ketone. Very nasty stuff that I think is illegal in a lot of states now for health reasons from skin and lung absorbtion while using it. All "illegal" means is it works better and be careful around it.....
