I was driving down the highway doing ~70 when the truck in front of me kicked up a rock which proceeded to smack into my windshield. It didn't crack, but it did make a chip (~1/8" square) that I don't want to get worse and turn into a crack.

Running my hand over it's rough so it did take the outside surface off. Is there any thing I can use as a filler (clear epoxy substance?) that would fill this chip and prevent it from getting worse?

Most windsheild places can fill the nik with a clear epoxy that will hold you over until the inevetible crack occurs.

I agree with sleeve84028 on this one. I once tried a company with a great reputation for window repair and he told me right up front that this chip will eventually grow. If your going to invest any money invest it on a new windsheild.

Check with your insurance - it may be covered with no deductible, I know my State Farm plan has this feature.

Ironically, I just got a nice 1/4-1/2" round crack from a stone in my windshield today on the highway.

I'm pretty sure the local glass place here waives deductibles with an ins. claim.

My local place will do repairs/replacements in the parking lot of wherever I am. They'll come to me. Only problem is the weather for me here in MI.

I have to rearrange my schedule now to drop the Jeep off and have the windshield replaced sometime in the next week since its too cold here to do it outdoors. Dang rocks....
