I recently acquired some rock rails and wanted to paint them.
I though about just doing one of those Rust Oleum paint jobs.. I figure they are going to get beat up anyway.. easy touch up
Then some one suggested I get them powder coated.
Then some one counter suggested I get them powdercoated because its not worth the money because they are just going to get beat up any way.

Any thoughts, or suggestions on other products to use?

Some like the Hammerite finish I have a '05 so I used flat black Rustoleum because I think it matches the lower trim better. Have to touch it up after each run as you noted, touching up powdercoating would be a pain.

On my Super Skinks, I've got two coats of Rustoleum primer and two coats of Rustoleum Hammered Black. As others say, I wouldn't bother powder coating because it'll probably just chip off. Rustoleum is really cheap and easy to touch up with a spray can and actually looks pretty good.

Get them galvanized, then paint them. No more rust worries. just touch up paint when needed.
