I just had my wife drop off a 247/75 mtr at ups to send off to someone and they charged her $89 to ship it!!! I think they took her for a ride. So has anyone ever shipped a tire, if so what did you pay? |

I shipped 4 tires and paid $20 per tire to ship. So yea, if she paid $89 for one tire, then they took her for a ride. |

Why do people use UPS for shipping? I Just don't understand it. Use the Postal Service. Heck I've shipped tires through PRIORITY MAIL before. No big deal. I can't remember how much shipping was, but it darn sure wasn't $89. |

Was it a UPS Store?? They likely tried to box the tire, charged her for a box, packing material and their labor.....tires do not need boxes! |

If they boxed it, they probably also charged you for dimensional weight: (length x width x height) / 194. If cubic size is over 5184, then you have to pay for dimensional instead of actual weight. http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resour ... eight.html If they didn't box it, they'll charge you a special handling fee because it's more difficult for them to pack irregular items into their vehicles. I try to use USPS whenever possible.... |

if the tire is new you can slap a label on it and go...if its used it must be boxed. anything over a certian box size/weight is automatically frieght. $70+ to ship. |

With less than 50 miles on them, mine were shipped UPS, on the rims, wrapped in plastic wrap. |
