Post subject:  Oxygen Sensor error code

Yesterday - after having fun the whole day in the Winter Storm - on my way home I came into heavy icy rain. Mixed with lots of snow and ice on the road the result were flooded roads around the area where I live. I had to pass flooded roads for a few times with 1-2 ft deep water. Some cars got stuck in there - electrical failure, water in exhaust... - ... the Jeep made it but everything freezes immediately after passing these flooded areas.

Then the Check engine light comes on - I got the error code P0158 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

The Jeep runs completely normal ...

The Check engine light was still on this morning - but on my commute to work (22mi) no problem with the car ...everything seems fine.

Shall I wait if the light goes off after a few cycles - or is it better to replace the Oxygen sensor immediately?

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I'd wait for things to dry out and reset.

I had the same code come up. No difference in how the rig ran bubt I crawled under the jeep to just take a peek, and here the wires for the O2 sensor came outta their holder on the crossmember and were rubbing my driveshaft and it seared through a couple of the wires.

Ok - after 4 driving cycles (cold starts) the Check light disappeared ... seems to be dried out...

@kolesy - good idea to check the cables - will do tomorrow just to be sure that it was only a wet thing...

That's funny, because if the check engine code has been triggered it usually stays in memory. Check the wires underneath.
