Just wondering if anyone added magnets to the RL diff covers when installing to collect metal shavings? If so what kind of magnet did you use? |

Double double post post Maybe check int he 4x4 section or the homebrew fab section. it's not something I havent heard of.... at least I have heard of a magnetic engine plug... I don't see why it woldn't work, unless the diff cover was aluminum, then it wouldn't stick (the magnet to the cover). -Mark |

Metal shavings? Hmm..... you must get those from running an inferior gear oil? I'm Not familiar with that. I imagine any decent magnet you can get at a hardware store would work fine for the purpose. Just make sure it is in a spot that won't interfere w/ moving parts. I don't think it is really neccessary though. Insert commercial here>> Or, buy some Amsoil Severe Gear and don't worry about metal shavings. |

No need to.....there is a magnetic plate built into the bottom of the diff housing. Just make sure you clean this magnet when you install a drainable cover as hopefully you won't have the cover off for a long time. There was a lot of cuttings on the magnet when I installed a PML cover at 12K. |
