I've got a base 2004 Liberty 4x4. It has the stock cd player which I really like and would like to keep. However, I was wondering if it's possible to install a 2 channel amp onto my stock cd player. I'm thinking of putting a single 10" subwoofer so I can listen to my tunes, but I'm not sure if I have to upgrade to an aftermarket cd player to do so. Any info is much appreciated. P.S. I checked the electronics forum but it says not to post any new topics?! What gives?

Wait a minute, I can post new topics in electronics. It's the tech articles that you're not supposed to post on. sorry. I'm still looking for the info to my question though.

your can keep the stock HU and still run an amp, but you would have better control over the the amp and subs with a aftermarket HU depending on its controls.

All you need to keep the stock HU and run an amp is one of these....

You could also grab an amp that has speaker level inputs, like one from the Alpine V-Power MRP series.

I've got a LTD with the upgraded audio system and steeringwheel controls and wanted to keep the stock head unit and controls as well.

I run an Eclipse Amp thingy and a 12" sub in the backseat - movable so I can unplug it and remove it quickly if nessessary. System sounds wicked and all factory functions remain.

If you want to add an amplifier to your stock radio which has no RCA plugs; all you need to really buy is an in-line RCA converter. I’ve seen them at Best Buy for about $30 I’m sure there are other electronic places that has them for sale. I got mine at a local car stereo installation place I only paid $18. Good luck
