Post subject:  Front End Noise

I am having a strange problem with my 03 renegade and wanted to see if others have experienced this. While driving on the highway, when I am right at 60MPH and decelerating, there is a strange howling noise from the front, almost like something metal is off balance and shaking. This only happens right at 60MPH, and only when I pull the accelerator back to the point of almost having my foot off, but not quite. I took it in for this a month ago, the dealer replaced the rear pinion ring, and the problem vanished for a few weeks but has returned. Has anyone had this issue before?

Howling with speed is usually the bearings but since you have shaking I'm thinking your wheel needs balancing or rotating. Stock tires correct? The Goodyear SR-A's suck and need constant rotating or they will cup and feather which makes a lot of noise like a wub wub wub wub that increases with speed.

The truck isn't shaking, I just used that term to describe sound, kinf of like the serantine belt is is riding on an off balance wheel (don't know the technical term for what the serpentine belt spins around). It just makes that noise, howling, at 60MPH when you pull the accelerator back to the point where your foot is almost off of it. When you let off of the accelerator completely, or press the accelerator in just a tad bit more, the noise goes away. It's driving me crazy because it only occurs in that very specific circumstance. Strange.
