Call the number on the card you got in the mail, or on the website, and then the phone recording will tell you where to send: original sales reciepts, a letter with your VIN# and when and why you installed the Moogs over the factory versions, and if you had a shop install them, the reciept for their labor. |

Ron, Would you mind sharing how much $$$ they reimbursed you total? Plus how much went to the ball joints and how much to labor. I'm having mine done on Friday (was supposed to be done last week but...) and would like an idea of how much my friendly mechanic can charge for the labor. Thanks |

LrL, Did DCX specify if you were covered in the event the MOOGs fail as well? Or did they state you were now no longer covered under the safety recall? I know this may seem like a silly question, but I don't think the failures are so much the ball joint as it is the entire design of the lower a-arm and front end geometry. While the MOOGs may very well be good enough to last, what if they aren't? How would we know? Some of you have had the OEMs last a very long time, while others (like me) are waiting for our 4th set at only 64,000 miles. I kind of like the idea of DCX replacing my LBJ's for free-for ever, versus just getting refunded once. I have free lifetime alignment through a shop and I have them inspect the LBJs at every rotation/alignment check. Others may be trying to decide which way is the best long term too. Thanks, Matt |

Thanks, Matt I have also thought about this, but until we here that the Moogs are failing,we're gonna roll the dice.If it's a KJ problem,I still feel better with serviceable parts. After all,I have yet to see a suspension part fail just because you greased it,have you?And having said that,I'm going against my original post as to not discuss quality for reasons of having pi$$ing matches leading to having this topic locked. You have good concerns and I respect that your decision may be the right one,but only time will tell. And before I forget,Dc did call me at home to tell me to make an appointment with my local dealer to have the work checked, and to see that the heat sheilds were installed properly. If they approve my repairs and find out latter that the parts are failing for other reasons,I'd like to think that with a safety issue, they will be willing to work with me. That was a good question though Matt. Ron |

How long did it take to get the check after you mailed it out? I sent it to the addess that was on the recall paper they send out. I just got mine around a month ago.. I wrote a letter telling what was going on and sent the receipt.. I also sent out the card that tells them to update their records. |

Thanks, Matt I got my check also. If you talk to them they would actually like to go back to the dealer and have the MOOGs are any other ones they are reimbursing you for replaced with the Mopar units. The recall will still remain open until you complete this. So try the MOOGs and keep and eye on them. If they start to go bad then take it back and have the recall performed. They are very easy to check yourself or just ask your mechinice they change the oil. If the Jeep is on the rack it literly takes less than 1 minute to check. Also, I'm sure a poor design is part of the problem, but alot also has to do with the ball joints. The supposed "inverted" design that everyone is so upset about is used in plenty of cars. Alot of the late 80's pickup trucks/vans used that design. Also, look at the ball joint problems with the supposed "non-inverted" design. Dodge durango/dakota, Toyota trucks & suvs, each has almost recalled a 1 million vehicles due to ball joints. |

Thanks for the replies. I am on the witing list for the current recall right now and have been thinking seriously of having the shop that does my alignments, etc. put the Moogs in and then bill DCX for it. Especially since it seems as though my stealership doesn't really use the waiting list, they just give them to who ever shows up needing them first. Matt |

Matt I think you would be making a wise choice to have your shop do the Moogs,Matt. If you do,just make sure to tell them to reinstall the metal heat shields,if yours already has them, cause after the repairs DC will want you to stop by your local dealership to check or finish the recall. As I posted earlier(without sounding like a total no-it-all)I think you can feel comfortable with the Moogs, cause they are simply the best part you can buy,and DC knows this, thus any other problems you may have should trigger yet another recall design flaw.If you have any particular questions on the reimbursment issues,PM me and I'll try to answer any questions.Good luck.
