Hi all, Need your input on this. What do you guys percieve to be a good LSD for the D30a ? If I go down this path I want something tight and responsive. I DONT want a complete auto locker at all, just a really good, tight LSD. Pls post your experiences and findings thanks OzLtd aka CRDSTU on Ausjeep |

Well I run the detriot true trac and love it,it's a gear driven LSD so no clutches to wear out.It has more "preload" than other LSD's and works really good upfront. On road it's virtually invisible, mine just returns the steering wheel to center after a turn faster than before but no hopping or funny noises while turning(no funny tire wear ether, got over 20,000 miles on it up front). Also you can apply the brake a little and "fool" it into acting like a locker because of the higher preload.I guess I'm a little baised though, good luck. |

Second the TrueTrac, had them front and rear on my 4X4 pickup, loved them. Ran them over 240,000 miles on Amsoil gear lube with zero problems. |

Another vote for the Detroit True Trac. Almost unoticeable on the road, but works great on the trail. |

I liked my TrueTrac so well on my 2002 that I would now put one front and rear since they came out with the 8.25" version. |

There are 2 writeups on the front install http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=173 http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=179 I think Darby's time estimate (3 1/2 hours) is way off unless you're fairly experienced and/or haven't lifted it yet - you have to pull the Half/shafts to get the differential out and with a lift the struts are in the way - so you end up pulling the struts out. No-one's written up the rear - although I used Skyjumps Auburn writeup as a guide - only difference is that you don't have to grind space for the TrueTrac, http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=182 and I highly recommend getting the Chrysler special tool http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/otc6602.html Rear seems great in ice/snow - I haven't been offroad yet |
