How much weight (max) is suggested for the tailgate? Has anyone exceeded that limit for a long period of time and seen any harmful results? Just curious...thanks -Scott Southern lost |

Not sure what the rating is but, I've had a LT 265/75/16 spare on it since Dec. of 03 with no problems to date. |

It seems that LT 265/75s run between 45 and 60 lbs a piece. PLUS the 20lbs or so for (I'm assuming) alloy wheels... EQUALS 65 to 80 lbs Quote: since Dec. of 03 with no problems to date.
Sounds promising for additional storage inplace of the spare tire as I believe you're suggesting. |

Yea i'm building a gas can holder for it...2 5 gallon cans, 1 H2O and the other gas so that is roughly 80lbs (weight at max fill of each container) + a Hi-lift jack so I think i might be pushing 90+, but I haven't weighed my Hi-Lift exactly yet so we'll see... |

| Post subject: | about 50 lbs.. |
I thought I read somewhere (possibly in the manual) that's it's good for 50lbs.. again I could be wrong.. The factory tire/wheel combo is about 45 lbs I think 225/75/16... I have on a 245/75/16 and I can notice a difference when I open the door.. I think I read this in the manual but again not 100% sure.. |

My MTR/Moab combination is about 73 lbs - and I know people have put much heavier loads for a short period of time - I'm not sure what the lifespan is. |
