I know, I know....blah blah blah, shotgun test, super bright, super lightweight, ect. blah blah blah. Are the 170s waterproof? The only one that I see on their website that says it's fully submersible is the 240HID/XGT, and I'm not spending $240 each for lights (or $1000 for the HIDs)...in addition, how do you like your lightforce lights? How often do you need to change the filters due to road etching and stuff like that? What color filter(s) do you have? I'm thinking that I'm going to go with either the Amber or the light blue (lotsa rain/snow driving). I might just stay with the clear filters. I'm definitley going with the Combo filter though. My biggest question is still the waterproofness of the lights though, as I'll be mounting them on top of my bumper. Thanks Guys! |

http://www.lightforceusa.com/images/dlm ... ersion.pdf Look at Qu. 6 on page 3. In my opinion, I would never spend that much on lights. I already got 2 Hella 500 driving lights on my roof rack. They're cheap (I got them for $30 used), but they look great and haven't let me down so far. Of course, I too want a few HUGE lights. I'm getting the Hella Rallye 4000 spots (~$100 each) for in between my current lights (I have yet to see a light brighter than these in person). I'm not saying don't get those lights; I’ve never seen them in action. But that's just so much to spend on lights, and the website says you save money by lower maintenence costs. What maintenence cost? Maybe if you constantly using your lights every night and driving through the most horrible weather possible and jumping your Jeep. I've never needed to replace a bulb, but I might upgrade to higher wattage bulbs in my 500s. |

I was just looking at some prices online. They're not so unreasonably priced, but still expensive. I might get a pair since they're so rare it seems here in the US. That and it'd look sweet having two almost 10" lights on the roof rack |

I've heard nothing but good things about the Lightforce lights, I'm just trying to find out about the water resistance of them. $265 for a pair of lights isn't bad when you look at the quality of the equipment. This of course coming from somebody who owns one of these: http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_ ... /sesent/00 I'm a cheapskate most of the time, but I'm more than willing to spend extra money for higher quality, which from what I've heard the Lightforce products are. |

most interstate truck drivers in Aus run light force lights my next set will be the 170's as the 240's look too large for the KJ they are a cannon of a light you cant go past em for performance and quality |

I have them on top of my bumper..they are awesome...I have clear and amber lenses so I can switch between driving lights and fogs, they are a little pricy, but you get what you pay for..they are built really well and I have had mine submerged on Kane Creek in Moab and they still work perfect |

FINALLY someone answered my question Now, did you wire yours on a relay or direct to the switch? I'm probally going to go with a fuse near the battery, then go to a relay, then to a nice toggle switch. That way I don't need to worry about fires or killing my battery. |
