| Post subject: | New brakes |
Hi guys, So I'm a 2003 with disc brakes all around at 73K and have only replaced the pads about 20k miles ago with ceramics. Stopping isn't what it used to be. The rotors may be ok still, but I'd guess that I need the pads at the least. Anyone have good experience with aftermarket pads and rotors they'd like to share? I'd like to get them swapped before I tow a trailer to Moab and back. Thanks for sharing. |

If you have a napa in your area - get the rotors from there My last set of ceramic pads were from Car-Quest but that was just because they were the cheapest place I could find |

I have PowerSlot front rotors with Napa ceramic pads, stops better than it did with the stock tires.Haven't had to mess with the rear shoes yet, they are only about 1/3 worn. |

Ill probably get solid brembo rotors from tirerack and some ceramic pads. Everyone that has them seems to like that type of pads. |

I'll be honest, never tried ceramic pads before. I know they offer less dust, and are harder which means they're going to eat up your rotors more. I'm partial to carbon-metallic pads(Perfomance Friction) and a top of the line set of rotors usually from NAPA like everyone else. I've used the PFC carbons on a couple of vehicls now and they brake much better than stock did, heck if F1 cars use a full carbon/carbon setup then I'm sure they must work. |

Ron I agree! NAPA works for me.. Just don't get the cheapest stuff. I usually pick up the ones that are priced in the middle. |

I prefer Bendix Brake pads and rotors. I usualy get the metallic pads. Every car that I have put their pads and rotors on has stopped much better after the change. They sell them at Advance Auto and Autozone I think, maybe pep boys too. A little more expensive than the Wearevers but definately better quality. The other good thing about them is that they are made in the USA. Most other brands are made in China so the steel might be a little worse w/ the different standards used there. |

Thanks guys! If you get the works, we can squeeze it in next Saturday Nan! Just make sure you get everything you need. Bring some brake fluid too and we will bleed them while we are at it. |
