Post subject:  CD stuck in player + non responsive buttons...

I made a CD like I always do using nero, put it in the player and after a few songs decided to skip ahead some tracks. The track forward/reverse not the fast forward/rewind button did not work. So i though it was a fluky thing w/the CD and ignored it. When I got home I went to eject only to find the eject button didn't work either. I could change between CD/fm/am and all the radio feature buttons work fine - this is the first time this has happened w/a CD. Any idea how to get it out of the player and can someone offer an explanation for the picky buttons?

If you have RBK radio failure to eject is a common problem, don't blame your CD unless it has a paper label.

i've has this jeep for 2+ years and have had probably hundreds of burned cd's go through the player and this is the first time its acted this way...

there's no special eject button like PCs have? all i can do it keep hitting eject and hope it comes out... ?

ED, ejectile dysfunction, is a common problem with the RBK. For me it was both factory and burned CD's that hung up. The problem is clearly in the player design.

I would think there is one. Never looked on mine but, just look for a tiny hole above or below the tray and stick a paper clip in there.

This is the one I have and have had no issues with it. Is this the RBK?

I've gone through 2 so far. Now that I'm out of warranty, next one goes it gets replaced w/aftermarket.
There is no override eject botton on ours because in order to eject a cd, the motorized deck has to actually be powered to bring that particular cd up to the slot where the cd would go in/out. On a PC all you are doing with the ol paperclip trick is manually releasing the latch that holds the deck in the closed position and allowing it to pop open under spring pressure. No power is required. Different system.

Yep, it's fairly common. First one was replaced under warranty. Second one is sitting on the table. Eventually it'll just decide to let the buttons work again. It's that or take it out, unscrew it and get your cd back.

My wife's 06 Commander ate a cd, same problem. Stealer had to order another. Had to send the deck off to have the cd's removed. They put a note in which said do not use thick cd's. Yea right. The one that stuck it "they said" was a store bought cd & was a little thicker then the other 5. THe new deck has been fine since.

I had a Chrysler 300M that had a 6 CD changer that stopped ejecting. It was loaded with 6 CDs and it would not eject any of them. The dealer had to take it out and send it to the manufacturer to get the CDs out. The dealer then mailed back the CDs to me. The changer was replaced. The malfunction was caused by pop that got inside of the changer due to an accident. My wife was hit in the rear with the car and a large Coke from McDonalds that she was drinking slammed against the stereo. That car was only 2 weeks old.

This happened to me a couple of times. A simple disconnect/reconnect of the battery gave me back my CD.

Darn, Why didn't I think of that! I took apart that section of dash to pop out the player to unplug it then plug it back in hoping the power off would reset it. Coulda just disconnected the battery!!
