If I kneel in front of my jeep and look through the 7-slot grill, on the driver's side there is a mini radiator or something like that. What is it? I have a manual, so it's not a tranny cooler. I don't have tow group or offroad group either. |

From what I've learned recently, I'd assume it's the power steering cooler. |

I thought that only came with tow group or offroad group. |

Yes. That thingy in the right hand corner. What is it? |

That's what I originally thought as well. However, if you look at the descriptions of those two groups, you'll see that they only mentioned HD engine cooling and an auxiliary transmission cooler. MacAttack wrote: I thought that only came with tow group or offroad group.

JJ and unixx are right - that is the PS cooler... I think the PS cooler is added to aid in low speed turning like when you are backing up a trailer and you've got to move the wheel around a whole bunch. |

Edmunds says this: AHT Trailer Tow Group Includes 7 pin wiring harness, 7 to 4 pin wiring harness adaptor, Class III trailer hitch receiver, heavy duty enging cooling and power steering cooler. |

The thing I can't figure out from all the posts is if the 2007 auto tranny already has a tranny cooler. Does anyone know? Does it already have one or does a tranny cooler only come with offroad or tow group? If it doesn't come with tranny cooler I want to add one so the tranny will last a long, long time. |

The power steering cooler must have switched from standard to optional in 2007. The 2004 and 2006 Off-Road and Towing packages don't mention the cooler while the 2007 packages mention it as being included. The 2007 brochure says the Off-Road and Towing packages come with an "auxiliary oil cooler for automatic transmission," so there must be a "primary" cooler. |

Someone recently said in another thread (can't even remember if it was this forum, at this point) that all '03+ Libertys had the tranny cooler. My '05 has the tranny cooler (full width of the rad across the bottom) but no PS cooler... I do not have the tow group option. Dave |

Ok.........Last 2 Questions !!! I'm pissed that I didn't order the Offroad group, and now I'm concerned about keeping the tranny cool and lasting a long, long time. I've seen so much conflicting information, I'm not sure what is what anymore. 1. Does the 2007 Auto Liberty come with a Tranny Cooler? 2. If so, is this the same Tranny Cooler that comes with the Towing and Offroad packages, or do they have a bigger or additional tranny cooler? |

Its the Power Steering cooler. If there is any doubt just trace the hose back and you will see they hook into the PS system. |

The 2007 brochure says the Off-Road and Towing packages come with an "auxiliary oil cooler for automatic transmission," so there must be a "primary oil cooler". At least, that would be my assumption. We need to do a survey of vehicle years, packages/groups, and coolers BoyNamedSue wrote: 2. Every auto tranny comes from the factory with a cooler,it's built into the radiator. The offroad/tow groups have a aux. cooler that is in front of the radiator and is inline with the radiator cooler.Save yourself some $ and get a aftermarket tranny cooler and install your self(not hard or time consuming) for about $30-$50,DCX will charge a fortune for that aux cooler.Unless you are going to do alot(more than 4-5 times a month) of rockcrawling, deep mud bogs,or heavy towing the aux cooler is really not needed but not a bad idea.

Thanks for the info. Is that auxillary cooler you mention just the extra fan, or is it actually a device similar to the power steering cooler? |

Thanks for the picture. Do you notice any benefits after adding the aftermarket tranny cooler, or does it just give you more piece of mind knowing the tranny isn't getting as hot? Are there any negatives associated with adding the extra tranny cooler? Does it restrict air flow a little? |
