Hi guys! I'm new on this board and was wondering if anyone has any pics of their Liberty with 18" rims or bigger? I'm contemplating whether going with bigger rims or bigger tires with lift.

if your planning on taking the libby out on the trails, i would stay away from anything larger than 17"...

nice lift with some larger tires will do wonders for you on the trail.
putting 18" + rims wont do anything but limit the stuffing capability.

just my 2 cents.

i do love big arse rims though...

I would prabably not hit any trails. Most of my driving is on the highway. I wonder if an 18" rim would hurt gas mileage in any way.

I don't have any pics but used to work with a guy that had 20" rims on his non-lifted KJ.Offhand I don't remember the tire size but he said they where the same diameter as stock. His mpg never changed according to him,as long as you stick close to the original(stock) overall tire diameter your's shouldn't change ether..It looked pretty nice, not my thing but he didn't do any trails just wanted the 4x4 if needed plus he had the original rims with snow tires mounted for the winter.Actually if you keep the same overall diameter as stock the bigger rim/tire combo should be pretty close to stock,it depends on the style of the rim but it could actually weigh less then stock. The tires rubber is pretty heavy so less tire and more rim(again depending on style) can actually wiegh less then less rim and more tire.Even with 18" rims if you just be careful you can do some easy trails with no worry, just watch where you plant those tires as not to ruin the rims.Going to bigger rims and shorter tire sidewall will give a stiffer ride to but my MT/R's have 3 ply sidewall's and are pretty stiff to but I don't mind the ride at all.

"My God man", these aren't lowriders, these are boulder bashing, rock crawling, mud slinging, trail busting jeeps. Do you need some curb feelers to go with those 18 inchers while your at it, white walls and hydrulics maybe? HA HA, just funnin, welcome to the forum!!!!!!!

You're right wendell! I'm afraid of making my Renegade look cheesy. I love the tough off road look. How big can I go on tires w/lift without having to change the rear gears?

I believe its 3" and 31s if you go any higher you run into CV angle problems and the tires get too heavy for our aluminum front diff, of course you could take the same money you would spend on the rims and go solid axle up front then it would be the skies the limit. But with 31s you need to pound out the pinch weld in the rear of your front fender wells, but you would need to do that with 18s anyway. BTW welcome to the fourm where ya located?

I was thinking of this setup originally. Not sure how it would look. Sorry to drive you guys nuts but I have so many ideas going through my head.
Thanks, it's awesome that I found a Liberty forum. :) I'm from New York. I live near NYC hense no trails to hit unless I go upstate.

While I don't agree with Bling'ing a KJ, or whatever it is called, it is a personal choice.

While you say you don't live near trails, many people don't. They make the effort to hit the trails far away because they had a life altering experience the first time they did it and now have to have an off-road fix once in awhile. Many drive hundreds of miles to get to trails.

Before you make your final purchase decisions, look around the forum and learn more about the KJ and what people do with them.

100%...thats how I would agree with Tokyojoe.I chose an American Racing polished Baja wheel for a little "Bold Bling" look. o offset with 4 1/2" backspacing and they look awsome IMO. Less rim and more rubber is a better 4x4 look.I wish I could have gotten these same wheels in 15" but they would'nt fit around my brake calipers.Spend a little more time looking around the forum,Welcome, and good luck with whatever choice you make.

Ron

P.S. Will have some more pics with the new wheels soon.

I think those rims would look really good on a KJ,really good on a dark color KJ!It's your KJ,take all the ideas and find what makes you happy 8) .

What did you say? Are you sure your post made it? I know in the past, when I hit "submit," the forum/server hangs, and a post doesn't make it into the thread.
