Quote:
In the 1990s the transmissions were renamed, however the TorqueFlite remains the basis of all current Chrysler designed transmissions. Jeep used several other manufacturers transmissions until 1997, and Mercedes-Benz uses its own design identified by the number "722". Also several of the pickup lines now use transmissions from various sources.
[edit] A500
The A500, later 40RH/42RH (hydraulic) and 40RE/42RE (electronic), was an A904 derivative used in trucks and vans. Introduced in 1988, it was the first light-duty Chrysler four-speed automatic. A tailshaft overdrive unit was bolted to the rear of the case to provide a total of four forward speeds. It has a GCVW of 7,800 lb. Was replaced by the 42RLE in 2004
Is this tranny the same as these?
4-speed Chrysler 45RFE automatic
4-speed Chrysler 42RLE auto
5-speed Chrysler 545RFE automatic
I think so, the constant hunting for gears leads me to believe so. I know there are threads wondering lose about tranny mods but i wanted to discuss just what is actualy there now and what i dont like about it. My Dakota had the very same tranny in it and i didnt much care for that tranny either. Anyone notice how the vehicle constaintly wonders about the gears as if its lost, constaintly looking for a gear to call home?
