Post subject:  Where to use the High Lift Jack?

My buddy has a high lift jack off his on CJ5 and he is giving it to me. My question is this....how can I use this thing without rock rails? Are the stock rails solid enough to lift off of?

My ultimate goal is to build a rack for it....

You can also use the HiJLift on front and rear Hitchs if you have them. Get some good rockrails...if you are plaaning on using the HiLift you are probably traveling places where rockrails are a must. Another trick when using the HiLift on a KJ is to OPEN the door or rear hatch door that is in the area you are lifting from...that way there is less chance of the HiLift denting your sheet metal.

will the hi-lift squirm around in the mud, meaning will it move, or is it pretty stout?

Yes, yes, and no. Mainly, though, it will sink.
Here's the solution to that:

If you have never used a high lift, be very careful. It is a great tool but MUST be used cautiously. Don't get your head, or other body parts in between the handle and body of jack. Especially if you have a have load on it and you are lowering the load. Think ahead and you will be glad you have this tool with you. It also works great as a winch, with the proper attachments. Look up the Masdam jackmate accessory.
