So...here's a good oddball question for you guys.

I occasionally have the habit of coasting into my parking spot in neutral in my 07 auto (e.g. pulling into a spot, I'll slow down, put the jeep into Neutral, and stop in the space).

Once in a while, when I put it into neutral, I get a single chime "ding" that sounds identical to the seatbelt/key chime. I push the shifter without pushing the button, so I know i'm not overshifting into Reverse or anything (unless my cable is misaligned, but the jeep is indeed in Neutral and not engaging any gear).

What would cause this? No indicators come on or anything to that nature. Just a single lone "ding."

On a somewhat related note, I drive w/the parking lights and fogs on in the day. Today I came home, made sure the windows were up, opened the drivers door, turned the lights off, and turned the jeep out and pulled the key (turned off and pulled key in one fluid motion with no pause). The jeep dinged 3-5 times (a couple seconds) after the key was out of the ignition AND I was partially out of the vehicle. Lights were definitely off. The jeep stopped dinging after a second or two. It was just acting like it was running a second or two behind of what I did. I then, confused, put the key back in, turned it on, let the seatbelt chime go off, turned it off and pulled the key quickly again and it acted perfectly normal.

Whats up with these issues? Random bugs in the computers or what?

Mine does not ding when I toss mine into neutral (from drive) and coast.

'k. That, along with my steering wheel volume control randomly continuing to turn the volume up or down after I release it will be noted on the next service order.

I didn't think the neutral 'ding' was normal.

Every once is a while mine will give 1 maybe 2 chimes after I have pulled out the key. I am not sure if it is because I opened the door before shutting off and the "ding ding" is just slightly delated because of that...

I've also noticed that on mine, there is a very VERY short (almost goes unnoticed, except i'm picky over my vehicles) delay if I turn the key to start before the Jeep starts to crank. I never paid attention on the gf's 06 to see if hers does it. But, maybe something on mine isn't energizing quite as prompt as it should, and stays energized for a split second after key-off (the extra dings)? I also swear mine has the same extremely short delay between turning the ignition off and the jeep actually shutting off. It just doesn't seem as immediate when starting/stopping as the other cars I own / have owned. Maybe it's just me though
